"Juniors and Seniors - After prom tickets will be sold on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of this week.  The cost is $15/person.  The parking lot in front of the MTSU rec center will be closed on Saturday night due to a triathlon being held there on Sunday so parking will be available in the parking garage next to the rec center.  The garage can be accessed from MTSU Blvd by driving around the softball field.  If you are planning on leaving the after prom early, you will need to have a notarized permission slip and the link for this form can be found on the Central Magnet After Prom Facebook page.  It is not too late to sign up for the competitions and the link for that is also on the Facebook page."

 

For those students who were not able to complete or take the National Spanish Exam due to field trips or absences, you may come to Ms. Pinson's room at any time on Friday and Monday to make it up. She will have computers set up in her room to take the exam. Please see her with any questions. 

 

 

The Central Night at the Arts will be on Thursday May 4th. This event is free. Snacks and Drinks will be provided.

Attention all students! The Foreign Language Department WORLD CUP is coming next TUESDAY! If you are interested in playing this annual, fun, and competitive activity then see your FL teacher today to sign up!

 

If you are attending prom please listen carefully to the following instructions:

 

*  When you arrive at Embassy Suites you will go to the Oakleigh Ballroom to check in.  

*  You will need your ticket with the ticket number at check in.

*  If you are bringing someone not from Central they MUST have their ID with them to get       into prom.

*  Prom ends at 11pm and After Prom begins at 11:30pm and doors close at midnight.

 

Registration is now open for the Business Education Partnership Foundation’s STEMEx camp, scheduled for June 12-16 from 8-3 daily.  This is a tuition-free summer day camp that introduces students todifferent careers in science, technology, engineering, and math.  STEMEx includes tours of local businesses that utilize STEM skills as well as interactive discussions and activities with STEM professionals.  Students currently in 6th or 7th grade are eligible to apply for the camp; however, camp space is limited.  Applications are due by April 28th, and the link to the application can be found on the guidance page or Mrs. Huffman's page under summer opportunities.

 

Middle School students - here is a summer volunteer opportunity for you!! The Confucius Institute at MTSU is looking for mentors for middle schools students from China attending a summer school at MTSU.  A group of 37 Chinese middle school students will be at MTSU for a two week summer camp. The students last year were 7th through 9th graders.  If you are interested in volunteering with this event, see Mrs. Huffman for the contact information.

 

 

Seniors- Banquet tickets are on sale now for $25 each.  Seniors will attend at no cost but each friend or family member in attendance will need a ticket.  See Mrs. Hines, Mr. Nichols, or Mrs. Huffman to purchase your ticket.

 

Freshmen, Sophomore, and Junior students- if you are interested in running for student body or class office next year, see the student council webpage.  All paperwork and posters are due to Mrs. Huffman by 3:00 on Thursday, April 13. Campaigning will NOT take place until May 15.  There is a mandatory meeting Wednesday, April 12 in Mrs. Huffman's office.  Meeting times are 7:30 am, B lunch, C lunch, and D lunch.  Please make sure you attend one of those meetings.  See the student council site for information, dates, and to download paperwork.

 

Congratulations to the newly elected National Honor Society officers.  These folks will be leading NHS for the 2017-2018 school year.

The Middle School boys soccer team played a very hard fought game but lost 2 to 1.  Tyler Stout scored the goal while Wills McAdams had the assist.  Dylan Iske and Connor McWhorter each had four saves.  The JV team won their second game in a row 3 to 2.  Kellen Feltz scored 2 goals while Clay Thompson scored one goal and two assists.  Baylor Woods also had an assist.  Will Palmer had two saves.  The next game is here April 11th against Oakland.  

 

The Central Tigers Men's and Women's tennis teams went to Ensworth School yesterday and despite some really good play from both the teams lost the matches to the Ensworth Tigers.

Several noteable players from the match yesterday: Fant Smith, Reed Gore,  and Chetan Gowda for the boys and for the girls: Natacha Thepsovan, Macy Speight, and Sally Smith. 

 

Both tennis teams will be in action Monday when they host Merrol Hyde at Old Fort Park at 3:30.

 

If anyone found a purple Garmin running watch by the bushes next to the flagpoles yesterday. Please come see Coach Worsley today in room #336.

 

The Garden Club will be selling chocolate covered strawberries for a $1 in the cafeteria at lunch today.

 

The softball team will attrmpt to keep their undefeated district record as they travel to DeKalb today.
