ATTENTION ALL 9TH-11TH GRADERS!!!! CMS and EF Tours will be offering a college and university tour to Boston and New York showcasing both on and off campus life in these two iconic cities! There will be an interest meeting on Monday, Nov. 13th at 5:30 in the auditorium. Please join us to learn more about this exciting trip that will take place Fall Break 2018.

Friday, November 17th is the deadline for Baby Ads.  Your parents should visit the Central Magnet Yearbook page for directions.  Please contact Daisy Skidmore or Mrs. Head with additional questions.  The yearbook staff is happy to help you design a page that will symbolize your high school experience.

 

Governor School applications are due to the counselors by Nov 15th.  If you have questions, see your counselor.

 

Any senior who is completing a Sertoma Scholarship essay need to turn it into their counselor by Nov 27th.

 

All students planning on attending A Midsummer Night's Dream on Friday should meet by the front office at the start of 2nd period. We should be back by D lunch. Pay attention to the weather and dress appropriately for walking to MTSU.

 

If you have joined the birthday book club this year and you haven't picked out a birthday book yet, please drop by the library today or tomorrow to choose your book. 

 

In honor of Veterans Day, donations for United States Flags will taken this week during all four lunches.  For each dollar you give, a flag will be placed on the school lawn in remembrance of those Veterans who have honorably served our country.  The donations you make will be given to the Wounded Warrior Project. 

 

The middle school girls basketball team defeated Smyrna middle Middle night 33-19

Beth Nelson led the team with 10

Addison Melton added 9 and

Kaitlin Polly added 8

 

Come out and support your lady Tigers Friday night against PCA.

 

The middle schools boys basketball team beat Smyrna Monday night 60 to 37.  Carrington Allen lead all scorers with 19 points and will harris added 9.

 

Another excellent outing for CMS Chess Team at the tournament held at Valor Collegiate Academy last Saturday.

 

Our Jr. High Chess Team won 2nd place.  An outstanding performance by Micah Warren (4 wins including a couple of upsets) earned him 3rd place individually in a strong field of 29 players.  All team members (Micah Warren, Joshua Guaz, Grady Knox, Nathaniel Carter and newcomer Jonathan Womble) posted rating gains.

 

Not to be outdone, another newcomer, 6th grader Timothy Raynor also scored 4 wins and earned 2nd place out of 35 contestants in his first tournament.

The National Spanish Honor Society Induction Ceremony that was scheduled for last night, has been moved to TONIGHT, Wednesday, Nov 8th. Same time and place! See Ms Pinson if any questions.

 

The girls bowling team defeated Riverdale yesterday 25-2. Skye Dupre picked up her first career point, while Sidney Starling bowled a match high of 202. The girls move to 3 and 3 in the district and 4-4 overall.

 

The boys kept their streak of not being shut out alive as Bennett Neu and Brandon Poplin picked up points.

 

Both teams play a district match today vs Oakland at Lanes Trains and Automobiles.
