Middle School Tryout Open gyms

UPDATE!!!!!!!!! Open gym for Middle school cheer open tryouts for Tuesday 4/2/24 have been cancelled due to the possible inclement weather. We look forward to seeing everyone on Friday 4/5/24. Please reach out to Coach Burns at [email protected] with questions. Stay safe.

The mandatory parent meeting for cheer will be March 18, 2024 in the senior cafeteria from 630-730 PM. One parent and the student-athlete should be in attendance. After tryouts, there will be a new team meeting from 6 pm-7pm on Thursday April 25th, location to be announced to the new squad. New athletes and 1 parent should be in attendance.

Tryout packet information can be picked up from Mrs. Burns (room 225) starting March 11. If you are a new student to CMS, you may get a packet Tuesday at the New Student Orientation, please stop by our booth and get to know some of our current athletes.

Open Gyms for tryouts: April 2nd, 5th, and 9th, from 530-7:30 at Premier Athletics in Murfreesboro. We will spend these first three days working on stunting basics, jumps, and tumbling. Athletes will pay the annual fee to Premier of $50. The open gym costs $63.75 for the 3 open gym days. Stunting will be judged at Premier. I'll add your stunt score to your cheer, dance, jump, and tumbling score (if applicable) for your tryout total. Please email Lisa Davis ([email protected])

to register your child for the workouts.

The last 2 days of clinics will be on April 16th and 18th at Central Magnet in the gym from 330-5:30. If you will be coming from another school, please email me, and I'll excuse you if you need to be tardy due to a later dismissal at your current school. Tryout day will be April 19th in the Central Magnet gym from 330-530* (we could end earlier).

Tryout results will be posted within 48 hours of the tryout.

Mandatory camp dates (Please do not try out if you cannot attend):

*** update for camps-Stunt camp scheduled for July 22nd and 23rd at Premier Athletics, Choreography camp scheduled for July 24th and 25th at Premier Athletics, , AND UCA Camp dates: July 11th-13th at Central Magnet. *UCA camp times may vary- Please don't schedule anything on these days.

Practice days: Tuesday from 6 pm-730 pm, Fridays 6 pm-730 pm (some weeks we will practice from 3-5 on Thursday at CMS). Basketball games are typically Monday and Thursday

The tryout paperwork will be posted here after March 15th. Please fill out the necessary pages and bring them to room 225.
