Additional Information about the application process
The application period for the 2022-2023 school year will be from December 1st, 2021 to January 31st, 2022. 
Students must be residents of Rutherford County in order to attend Central Magnet School.
  • The application process for the 2022-2023 school year will be between December 1st, 2021 and January 31st, 2022. 
  • Applications are due by January 31st, 2022, no later than 4:00 P.M. 
  • Applications for the 2022-2023 school year will be available on December 1st, 2021.
The final grades for the 2019-2020 and the 2020-2021 school year will be required as well as standardized test scores from the same school years.  A test will be given at Central Magnet School to replace the TN Ready scores from 2020.  A student will choose one of the following dates and times on the application.
January 27, 2022       4:00 P.M.
February 5, 2022       8:00 A.M.
February 5, 2022       12:00 P.M.
February 10, 2022      5:00 P.M.

*If you need to change the testing date AFTER submitting the application, please complete a "Change of Testing Date" form posted on the main page of the CMS website.

For safety, all CDC recommendations will be followed during testing.
Students that have standardized test scores from 2020 and 2021 are not required to take the test administered at Central.  
Applications will be available beginning December 1st.  You should receive an email in a timely manner when you submit your application.  If you don't receive one in a few days, please contact us at 615-904-6789.  
Students are assigned points based on their scores. For example, a 99th percentile in Math will receive 20 points, a 98th percentile will receive 19 points, etc. The points for all categories will be totaled and the students with the greatest number of points will be accepted. The remaining students will be placed on a waiting list in order of their total points. Letters of acceptance or place on the waiting list will be mailed by March 1st.  
These will be updated as soon as the state releases the information for the 2021 test.
