My name is Dr. Kim Saxon, and I am excited to be the new choral director and piano teacher at Central Magnet School! Your registration schedule may say that your instructor is Kimberly Cargile, but I was married on June 9 to a wonderful man named Herbert Saxon. We enjoy living the country life in Milton, TN, where we are surrounded by a gorgeous view, as well as cows, horses, deer, and many other furry critters!

I have included a link on my page for each ensemble and piano class. Simply click the link for important information, including syllabi, assignments, listening links, dates/events, etc. Stop by my page anytime for all things choir and piano!

In case you are curious, here is a bit of information about me.

Bachelor of Arts, piano performance (minor in psychology)
The University of TN - Chattanooga

Master of Music, choral conducting
The University of TN - Chattanooga

Doctorate of Musical Arts, choral conducting (with a secondary emphasis in opera and musical theatre production and performance)
The University of Southern Mississippi

I have performed as a pianist, conductor and vocalist in twenty-six countries, including renowned venues such as Carnegie Hall in NYC, the Sydney Opera House in Australia, eight trips to the White House in Washington D.C., and numerous national and international TV and radio broadcasts. I have also spent my life serving in churches as a Director of Music/pianist, and I love composing, arranging, and doing recording studio work. While working on my doctorate degree, I began working as a musical director/pianist for professional opera and musical theatre productions, and I fell in love with both genres! In addition to teaching choir and piano, I look forward to working with Ms. Andersen as the musical director for the MS and HS productions that she will direct!

Of all the things I have done musically, nothing gives me the joy and satisfaction that I get from teaching and investing in the lives of young people. I am blown away by my students here at CMS, and I look forward to getting to know you and making beautiful music with you!
