About Me

About Me

Teaching is a second career for me after a 14 year career as a structural engineer.  I have lived in Murfreesboro since 2000 with my wife Lisa and our two children, Joseph and Allyssa, along with a Golden Doodle named Bella, a mixed breed named Braden and a mixed breed named Max.

I grew up in Athens, TN and graduated from McMinn County High School in 1992.  I received an Associate of Science from Cleveland State Community College in 1994.  In 1997, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and received my Master of Science in 1998, both from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

While working for Carpenter Wright Engineers, I designed the structures for retail, schools, hospital among other types of buildings.  Some of the buildings that I designed are 2525 West End that is adjacent to Vanderbilt's football stadium, the outdoor retail area at Stones River Mall and Covenant Presbyterian  Church in Nashville.

Prior to coming to Central, I taught Intro to Computer Aided Drafting and Design at Middle Tennessee State University.  While at Central, I have taught Honors Physics, AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2, Architectural and Engineering Design 1 and ACT - Science Prep.  I have also coached both the middle and high school archery teams to state championships.
