Welcome back, students!  I hope you are as excited as I am for another year of music at the Mag!  
 
I have attached the syllabi for each class on their respective pages.  Choral students and parents, please note the important dates (listed below on this page and on the syllabus).  On the syllabus you will also find class behavior expectations and our performance policy (please do not let this mandatory part of our program surprise you and let it affect your grade.  Make work arrangements ahead of time - it is our exam!). Piano students, I will have recital dates for you by the end of the week.  
 
At the end of the syllabus, there is a contract that must be signed by both student and parent to ensure that everybody is on the same page with what is expected of our choral and piano students.  
 
Finally, choral students and parents please take note that there is a very important parent meeting on 8/14 at 7:00 PM in the choir room regarding our inaugural mattress fundraiser for the choir program!  Our facilitator from Custom Fundraising Solutions, Mr. Jackson Heller has promised me $5 for every parent that comes up to 100 parents.  This is $500 free dollars for our program!  We need your participation, so please make every effort to be there.  I will send out reminders leading up to this night.  Also, start sharing the event with friends and family: Sunday, 9/16 from 10-6 PM.  Other programs I know very well have made up to $12,000 each year from this and all they had to do was spread the word!  I would love for us to make even half of that for our first year, but it is going to take everyone to get the word out and find that 10% of our population that needs a new mattress this year!

October 18-20: Mid-State/Freshman Honor Choir Auditions (Siegel HS)
November 12-13: Mid-State/Freshman Honor Choir Event
February 19-22: MTVA HS Choral Adjudication Festival (First United Methodist Church)
February 25-27: MTVA MS Choral Adjudication Festival (First United Methodist Church)
April 10-13: TMEA Conference/All-State Event (Opryland Hotel & Resort, Nashville)
 
Choral student supply list:
  • 1 - Half-inch, black three ring binder with NO glossy/clear sleeves on outside - must be matted black with your name on the INSIDE of the binder, not the outside.  
  • Loose-leaf paper for classwork
  • Pencils
  • 1 box of tissues per student would help get us through the school year amidst the sniffles and sneezes that may occur.  
  • Black dress shoes for concerts (women, if you wish to wear heels at concerts, they should be no more than 2 inches high).
  • Men Concert Attire: Black suit, white dress shirt, and black bow-tie for concerts
  • Women Concert Attire: TBD
 
Piano student supply list:
  • 1 - half-inch three ring binder, any color
  • Loose-leaf paper for classwork
