GUIDANCE
Attention 10th and 11th graders! If you are interested in learning more about Governor's School, the counselors will hold a meeting on Thursday, Oct. 22 at 10:45 (during RTI) in the auditorium. Please attend if you think you would like to apply.

College Corner will host a representative from the Air Force ROTC TODAY during C and D lunches. Stop by to learn more!

A representative from Vanderbilt will be at Central to visit College Corner on Thursday, Oct. 22 during C and D lunches. Note this is a different day than our usual College Corner. Please remember to have good questions ready and be respectful.

High school students: collection for AP exams ends Oct 30th. Students can pay online with a credit card or with cash or check in the Attendance office. The fee is $99 per exam.

ACADEMIC
The Science National Honor Society is offering tutoring during C and D lunches on B days in Mr. Kinney’s room. Check the flyers in your science class or posted in the hallways to learn how to sign up for tutoring.

ARTS
Do you like to move it, move it?! Come see our amazing middle school cast perform Madagascar on October 22-24 (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday) at 7 pm. This show is about an hour and features lemurs, lions, a sick giraffe, and a jazz song about steak. Tickets are just 5 dollars for students - priced so you can see it more than once! Tickets are available at the door or on the CMS Fine Arts page.

Are you interested in traveling Into the Woods? High school auditions for this iconic show will be held the first week of November and performance dates are the first week of March. If you want access to audition paperwork and info, email Ms. Scott so she can add you to the Audition Teams page, or stop by the Theatre room and she'll answer all of your questions.

The Creative Writing Club will not meet today, Tuesday, October 20th because of Parent-Teacher Conferences.

Any high school student interested in seeing author, Neal Shusterman, on Tuesday, December 8th should come by the library before Friday, October 23rd. The MS Boys Basketball team fell short in their 1st pre-season game last night by a score of 35-28. Luke Redmond led all scorers with 17 points. The Tigers are back in action Friday night against Watertown MS, tipoff is at 7:00 at Dekalb West.

The Young Leaders Council at the Discovery Center is hosting an event called the Teen Science Cafe on Saturday 12:30-2 p.m. This is an event showcasing Dr. Rosa Vasquez Espinoza a chemical biologist and conservation leader that was named BBC 100 most influential women. She will be talking about her experience as well as leading a hands-on activity. This would be a great opportunity for high school students interesting in the STEM field. Refreshments will be served.

The Central Magnet Lady Tigers won the District 8-AA Championship last night with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Tullahoma in double overtime! Madelyn Brock led the way with two goals, while Gabby Woods added a goal and an assist. Abigail Woods also contributed an assist. With the district championship secured, the Lady Tigers advance to the Region Semifinals on Tuesday, October 20, at 7:00 p.m. at Richard Siegel Soccer Park, Stadium Field, where they will face Cumberland County. Congratulations are also in order for our players who received district tournament honors. Gabby Woods was named District Tournament MVP. Taylor Ertl, Madelyn Brock, Lillie Bryant, Camila Sandes, and Molly Glover were also named to the All-Tournament Team. Regular-season district awards were also announced. Congratulations to our District 8-AA Second Team All-District selections: goalkeeper Taylor Ertl, Abbey Mott, Chloe Huffman, and McKinley Nickerson. Our First Team All-District selections were Molly Glover, Camila Sandes, Abigail Woods, and Landry LaPointe. Individual honors went to Lillie Bryant as Midfielder of the Year, Gabby Woods as Forward of the Year, and Madelyn Brock as Freshman of the Year.

Now it's on to regions! Let's keep the momentum going and show our support for the Lady Tigers this Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. at Richard Siegel Soccer Park as they continue their quest for a regional championship.

SPORTS
The high school volleyball team saw their season come to an end on Tuesday night during the regional tournament dropping a hard fought match to a very good Upperman Lady Bees program. Several players earned awards, both of the conclusion of regular season and postseason play. Emery bland, Gabby Baron, and Lily Stuible earned All District honors for their accomplishments during the regular season. Bland, Stuible and Jordan Hayes earned all-district tournament team.
Finally at the conclusion of the regional tournament, Emery was recognized as being a member of the All Region Tournament Team.
The players and coaching staff would like to think everyone for their support during the 2026 season.

The middle school tennis team brought home some hardware after two hot days of play at the district tournament. This season saw some of their toughest competition to date. The girls won the 3rd place team trophy, with Veronika Duhacheck, Avni Patti, Margaret Stewart and Tala Canfar clinching that win. Xavier Clarke is the district boys singles runner up after a long day of long matches. Congratulations to both teams on their season.

The Central Tiger bowlers won their first match of the season last night by defeating Oakland, 15-12. The Tigers were led by Hunter Shadrick's score of 191 in the ten-pin match, and a team score of 193 in the Baker game.

Central Magnet Lady Tigers Soccer team had a big win against Giles County in the district semis finals last night. Lady Tigers dominated with a convincing 6-0win.
Gabby Woods and Emerson Gusman led the way with 2 goals each. Abigail Woods and Camila Sandes also scored. Assists were by Abigail Woods, Abbey Mott, Emersyn Gusman and Reese McDaniel.
The Lady Tigers Soccer Team plays Tullahoma in the District Finals Thursday night. That game will be played at Richard Siegel Park at 7 PM on the stadium field.
So come out and support these girls and this team Thursday night as they make a push towards Regions.

The middle school cross-country team finished their season at the state championship on October 3rd. The boys team placed 4th. The girls team placed 3rd. And Adelyn King was the Class AA individual runner-up with a 2-mile time of 12:25. Congratulations to all the runners for representing CMS well and for giving it their all.

The high school volleyball team finished as the district 8-aa runner-up. Tournament wins over Marshall County and Forrest and a tough championship match loss to Battle Creek set them up for a regional tournament bid. The Regional Tournament will be played Tuesday night at Battle Creek high school. Your lady tigers will take on the Upperman Bees at 6.

The high school volleyball team will wrap up their 2026 regular season tonight at home against archrival and District opponent Forrest. Forest has traditionally had the best volleyball student section in the district, Coach Starnes would like to squash that narrative. At tonight‘s game we will be celebrating big place by tossing candy into the student section. Make sure you’re there tonight as we kick off spooky season.

This past weekend, Central Magnet Choir students auditioned with nearly 2,000 other students from across Middle Tennessee for the 2026 Mid-State Honor Choir. Central Magnet had a historic showing with the 2nd most students in all of Middle Tennessee selected for Mid-State, and the most students in RCS selected for an All-State Audition. This has never been done in CMS history and is incredibly rare throughout RCS. Please congratulate the following students:

Your middle school cross-country teams are going to the state championships! Last Friday in Chattanooga, the boys took runners-up in their race and the girls were sectional champs! The varsity girls representing CMS are: Adelyn, Ellen, Allie, Callyn, Nora, Rupal (ruh-PEHL), and Lucy. The varsity boys representing CMS are: Briggs, Baird, Bentley, Owen, Enzo, Wyatt, and Kyle. The junior varsity runners had a great day, too - setting lots of personal records for themselves. The season finale will be this Saturday in Clarksville.

The MS tennis team heads into their last regular season match tomorrow against Rockvale with 2 wins from last week for both boys and girls. 

This weekend, 5 players from each team spent their days at the

USTA Middle School state championship. They represented Central well with their sportsmanship and play against some really competitive teams from around the state. Congratulations and good luck.

Attention High School drivers -- We wanted to take a few moments to remind you of parking lot etiquette. First and foremost, all student drivers must have a parking pass. Secondly, all high school drivers should park in a paved/striped spot in the parking lot. Students are not allowed to park on the loop on the high school side. The HS volleyball team avenged an earlier season loss to Battle Creek on Thursday night, picking up a three to one win. The Lady tigers were excellent defensively and picked up key aces from Emery Bland and Gabby Baron. They will return to action tonight with a matchup against PCA.

The MS girls soccer team took home a win in their tournament opener. The girls won 3-0 with goals added by Lydia Luna, Veronica Dichacek, and Annika Oslund. Isla Henry had a shutout in the goal! The lady tigers move to the semifinals on Monday at 6:30 at Siegel Park.

The girls golf team won their 5th straight regional title and punched their ticket to a 5th straight state championship. Lauren Powell led the team with a 76 and Emery Mitchell and Anna Powell both shot a 79. Andrew McKissick finished his freshman season scoring a 92 in his first regional tournament.

HS Cheer congratulates the winners of the People's Choice Award at the Cheer talent show on Saturday. 3rd place went to August (Marleigh) Parker, 2nd place went to Hani Abu Halimah, and 1st place went to Arlo Davis, Grayden Dabbs, and Oliver Lawrence, who performed as a band. Flag Football has an interest meeting Wednesday 9/23 at 10:45 in main cafe. Anyone interested in joining the flag football team should fill out the interest form on the flag football website by 9/23.

There will be a wresting interest meeting on Tuesday, 9/22 at 6:30 in the Eagleville cafeteria.

The Golf teams played in their district tournament last Thursday. The girls earned their 5th straight district championship. Lauren Powell placed 2nd overall and Emery Mitchell placed 4th. The girls will compete for their 5th straight regional championship this Thursday. Andrew McKissick also advanced to his first regional tournament as an individual.

Your middle school cross-country runners are Rutherford County champs! Our top racers were Briggs, Baird, Bentley, Adelyn, Ellen and Allie. This Friday, the group travels to Chattanooga for their Sectional Championship. The top four teams there will be invited to the state championship on October 3.

The HS XC team ran against some tough competition at the Southern Showcase meet. Parker Ward ran a 16:18, Nate Dyer ran a 16:26, and Jason Dyer ran a 16:34 in the Boys' Championship race. Miles Rafacz ran an 18:23 and Owen Butler ran an 18:37 in the Blue race. In the girls' Championship race, Rachel Benefield ran a 19:52, Catherine Zubkus ran a 20:55, and Georgia McCasland a 21:34.

HS girls Soccer team had a big win Thursday night. It was a district game and the Tigers dominated with a convincing 6-2 win. Gabby Woods led the way with 3 goals. Madelyn Brock and Lillie Bryant also scored. Assists were by Caroline Bogle, and Abigail Woods.
They play Marshall County tomorrow with Senior night starting at 4:30. Game starts at 5:00. With a win tomorrow night the Lady Tigers will clinch the regular season district title.

The MS girls soccer team has their final regular season game tonight at home. 8th grade night will start at 4:15 with the game to follow at 4:30. If the lady tigers win tonight’s game, they clinch first place for the regular season. Students and staff get in free.

Do you need service hours? Meet Dr. Guthrie Saturday, 9/26 from 8-11 am in the courtyard for campus cleanup. Parents are welcome to work with us; bring work gloves! If you can bring rakes or yard tools that would be great! Open to all grades- 3.5 service hours given if you work the whole time!

Jr. Beta Club will be hosting a “Tat the Teacher" fundraiser. You can purchase a personalized temporary tattoo for your favorite teacher—or perhaps the teacher you just really enjoy picking on. Tattoos will cost between $1 and $3 and will be sold during all lunches Tues. 9/22-Wed., 9/30. Thurs. 10/1, participating teachers will be required to proudly wear their temporary tattoos to school for the entire day.

The Central Magnet Lady Tigers soccer team had a huge district win last night beating Tullahoma 3-1.
Goals by Madelyn Brock, Reese McDaniel and Emersyn Gusman. assist by Lillie Bryant, Madelyn Brock and Gabby Woods. This puts the Lady tigers solely in first place in the district with another district match tomorrow night away against Battle Creek. Next home match will be Tuesday 9/22 against Marshall County (Senior night).

More than 68 million people in the United States are Hispanic or Latino. This month is a time to celebrate the stories, cultures, traditions, and contributions that enrich our communities. It is also an opportunity to learn from one another and celebrate who we are.

The middle school girls soccer team defeated Rock Springs 3-0 last night bringing the season to a 10-1 record with one game left. Come out and support the girls at home next Monday night for their final regular game of the season!

The middle school JV volleyball team defeated Rock Springs in 2 sets last night. Olivia Woolery was a force at the serving line with 6 aces on the night. The Varsity team fought hard in 3 sets led by Faith King with 7 aces, Nora Casteel with 5 digs and Elsa Clancy as a force at the net.
