Mid-State

Mid-State is a weekend event held each January that provides an opportunity for the best young musicians of Middle Tennessee to perform with one another in a large ensemble of motivated students. Each Mid-State ensemble will rehearse on Thursday night, all day Friday, and give a concert on Saturday morning. Ensembles work with renowned teachers and conductors from across the country.

To make the Mid-State Orchestra, students in grades 7-12 must go through the audition process in the fall, which includes three parts: scales, prepared music, and sight reading. The highest scored musicians in each section are selected to be a member of the Mid-State Orchestra, with the top few high school musicians from each section qualifying for All-State. Preparing an audition takes time, dedication, and discipline.

Participation in this event is ideal for resumes and college application as it shows musical success and excellence achieved through dedication and commitment.
