Students discussed and took notes on a short lesson on The Bureaucracy. Next, they discussed the salient points and rulings of the following SCOTUS cases: Baker v Carr, New York Times v U.S., Brown V Board of Education, and United States v Lopez. Come to class tomorrow prepared to discuss these two cases.

Read and take notes (1-2 sentences on facts of the cases, the issue, arguments for the petitioner, arguments for the respondent, majority opinion, and dissent AND note if the case is a selective incorporation case) for the following cases (from your 15 case packet you downloaded from Mr. Brooks’ A.P. U.S. web page.):
Gideon v Wainwright, and McCulloch V Maryland.
Come to class on block day prepared to discuss these two cases.
Classwork:
Students finished their discussion on the political economy of Iran. If time permitted, they began working in groups on Iran FRQs.
