Classwork:
1) Students discussed and took notes on various types of democracy in order to be able to respond to an FRQ next week.
a) Compare and contrast direct democracy, indirect democracy.
b) describe participatory democracy, pluralist democracy, and elite democracy.
2) Students read (Pp 36-39 in their textbooks in order to discuss the following ideas espoused in John Locke’s political philosophy and in Jefferson’s Declaration of Independence: limited government, natural rights, popular sovereignty, republicanism, and the social contract.
3) Students discussed how to respond to an FRQ in A.P. U.S. government.

Homework:
Study for frq quiz on Friday, 8-17-2018 (i.e. public policy, government, types of democracy, politics, Locke, Jefferson, and Articles of Confederation failures, and compromises at the Constitutional Convention).

Classwork:
Students took their government terminology FRQ-Quiz.
Afterwards, they worked on their Reading/Discussion guide to Chapter 1 (intro to comparative government).
Homework:
Reading/Discussion guide to Chapter 1 is due tomorrow.
