Classwork:
Various students presented their polished versions of the Tinker/Schenck FRQ, so the rest of the students could offer critiques. Next, students described the "establishment clause" and the "free-exercise clause" of the 1st Amendment in order to better respond to Engel. If time permitted, students read/discussed Engel v. Vitale (1962) as preparation for their FRQ test on Wednesday (1-20-2019) in which they will compare  Engel with  with a case they've not seen before.

Following are the Tinker/Schenck questions addressed in the FRQ:

A. Identify the constitutional clause common to both Tinker v. Des Moines (1969) and Schenck v. United States (1919)?
B. Explain how the facts of each case determined a different outcome (i.e.decision) in the two cases.
C. Explain how the ruling in Tinker v. Des Moines affects your life.

Homework:
STUDY Engel v. Vitale for Wednesday's FRQ test.

Classwork:
Students completed the Russian FRQ test. Afterwards, they examined and received feedback on last week's Russia multiple-choice test.

Homework:
Read Pp 501-504 and Pp 507-518 on Iran in your textbook.
