The second lesson (executive branch) will be on my web calendar tomorrow, Tuesday, 3-24-2020. I'll put a TEXT ONLY WORD DOC, which some of you may prefer. Also, there will be a Zoom MP4 video/audio file with commentary. The lesson will be on the executive branch.
See the MS WORD DOC posted that I uploaded to TODAY's (3-23-2020) web calendar on my web page. It is a comprehensive explanation of fascism. Thanks for the question on this, Josh Badem!
As always, email me if you have any questions.
Practice your social distancing! Hope all of you are well. Spock and I miss you. He's visiting for a few days and will make an appearance in the Zoom Vid tomorrow!
Also, also, Josh Badem asked some really great questions on the 1st lesson. They are:
1. Can fascism really be placed on the far left when historically it has stemmed from far right movements?
2. What would compel a state to have a closed primary? I can’t really think of an argument that supports it…
3. What causes referendums and initiatives to take place? What makes these pieces of legislation require input from the people as opposed to other issues?
I have a doc for question 1 on fascism below, and I'll answer questions 2 and 3 in tomorrow's lesson.
Please provide feedback on the MP4s. Is the video/audio commentary efficacious for you, or is the WORD DOC sufficient?
BE SAFE! PRACTICE YOUR SOCIAL DISTANCING!!!
I will put daily announcements on this homepage and then will upload the activities/resources to my daily web-page calendar.
FINALLY, FOR BOTH SEMESTERS 1 and 2
Antonio Brown asked about online resources to prepare 1st semester folks for the AP test.
The lesson I posted on Saturday, 3-21-2020 (WORD DOC and MP4 video ON MY WEB PAGE CALENDAR) is new material for 2nd semester, but will be a review for 1st semester. I will post lesson 2 on the executive branch tomorrow. When we get back from "break" on April 6, I will have a review schedule for after-school reviews for Semesters 1 AND 2, if we're allowed. If we aren't allowed to gather for reviews after school, I will post reviews for both semesters on my web calendar at that time. Likewise IF we don't come back on 4-6-2020, then I will posted the review Docs on-line FOR ALL STUDENTS (i.e. semester 1 and 2).
REMEMBER, that we are only responsible for units 1-3 (Unit 1 is "Foundations of American Democracy"; Unit 2 is "The Interactions Among Branches of Government"; and Unit 3 is "Civil Liberties and Civil Rights").
******A.P. Comparative Government: we are only responsible for Units 1-3 as well. I will post some review material for y'all on my web calendar next week. The units go by subject, not country, but we covered all the concepts in detail during the semester (Unit 1 is "Poliitcal Systems, Regimes, and Governments"; Unit 2 is "Political Institutions"; and Unit 3 is "Political Culture and Participation".Hey Y'all,
Practice your social distancing! Hope all of you are well. Spock and I miss you (he's visiting for a few days) and will make an appearance in the Zoom Vid tomorrow!
