Classwork:

1) Students handed in the SCOTUS FORM for  Schenck v. U.S. (1919).

2) Next, students discussed the following: selective Incorporation (doc on my GOV Page), Civil Rights Act of 1964, Voting Rights Act of 1965, affirmative action, and Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972. They also viewed/discussed a video clip (link on on my GOV page) that illustrates the relationship of the various courts in the federal system. 

3) Finally, students began discussing the following SCOTUS cases, all of which will be on Friday's BIG HONKIN' Civil Liberties/Civil Rights Test" (3-13-2020):

Gideon v. Wainwright (1963)

Brown v. Board of Education (1954)

McCulloch v. Maryland (1819)

U.S. v. Lopez (1995)

Wisconsin v. Yoder (1972)

McDonald v. Chicago (2010)


We'll test this Friday, 3-13-2020.

Homework:

STUDY your notes on Civil Liberties/Civil Rights; the dual court system; amendments 13,14,15,17, 19, 23, 24, 26; selective Incorporation (doc on my GOV Page); Civil Rights Act of 1964, Voting Rights Act of 1965, affirmative action, and Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972.  Also, make sure you know the facts, decisions, issue, and constitutional clauses pertinent for each of the following cases:

Gideon v. Wainwright (1963)

Brown v. Board of Education (1954)

McCulloch v. Maryland(1819)

U.S. v. Lopez (1995)
isconsin v. Yoder (1972)

 McDonald v. Chicago (2010)

FINALLY, make sure you know the the rulings and constitutional clauses for:  Gitlow v. New York (1925), and Mapp v. Ohio. (1963).
