AP U.S. Government and AP Comparative Government

Classwork:

Students finished  reading analyzing/explaining and taking notes on the U.S. Constitution (the copy we're using is a MS WORD doc on my AP GOV page).

If time permitted, they participated in a work/pair/share activity for a concept application FRQ.

If you were absent from the work/pair/share activity, you must do the following assignment: Write down the Commerce Clause, the taxing clause, and the necessary and proper clause (all verbatim). Once you've done that, EXPLAIN HOW/WHY each clause is a check on any part of the government. Remember checks can be on other branches, on the president, and on the supreme court, as well as state governments. You can hand it in upon your return to school. If you wish to turn it in sooner, you're welcome to email it to me.

HOMEWORK:

Review types of democracy, D.O.I., AND Constitution Notes. MAJOR Test 9-13-21 (periods 1 through three) and 9-14-21 (periods 4 through 7). BRING TEXTBOOK TO CLASS NEXT WEEK (AFTER-TEST READING ASSIGNMENT).

AP Comparative Government:

Class Work:

Students continued discussing/taking notes on various aspects of Great Britain (institutions of government, economy, various significant Prime Ministers, etc.). In the discussion, students also utilized AP Comparative Government nomenclature (i.e. power, authority, legitimacy, transparency, etc.) to apply to various aspects of Great Britain's political system.

If time permitted, students began working on practice FRQs on Great Britain. I will post these FRQs once we begin work on them depending on whether or not we finish the Great Britain discussion.

Homework:

Review your Great Britain, Tony Blair, and Maggie Thatcher notes.
