*Several students from Central participated in National History Day at MTSU last week and one student, Sally Smith, qualified for State with an essay entry regarding Alexander Hamilton. Sally will be competing in Nashville next month. Be sure to wish her the best of luck!

 

*"The 10-minute plays have been cast and are posted on the board outside of Ms. Lindsey's room. Please come during C and D lunch today to meet with your directors in Ms. Lindsey's room."

"The school musical The Drowsy Chaperone is this weekend March 8th- March 10th. It is at 7 PM on the 8th and 9th and 2:30 on the 10th. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults. You do NOT want to miss this show!"

 

*The National Spanish Honor Society is raising money for the local Hispanic Center this THURSDAY with a BAKE SALE! All items will be $1! Cookies, muffins, drinks, ALL homemade! Bring your money and your appetite! On Sale before school at 7:15 in College Corner.

 

*This weekend the final results were posted for the 2019 All-State Ensembles and Central Magnet's own ANDY KING has been selected to play bass for the All-State Jazz Band. This ranks Andy as the #1 High School Jazz Bass player in the entire state of Tennessee. Congratulations on this great honor!

 

*College Fair will be held tonight, Monday, March 4 from 5:30-7:00 in the gym. There will be over 40 college reps on hand to answer questions and provide information. A list of colleges that will be represented can be found on the CMS Counseling webpage. We hope you’ll make plans to attend!

 

*Central Magnet was well represented by Seniors Dot Perkins and Maggie Harris, sophomores Katie Cowart and Caton Taylor at the Tennessee Junior Science and Humanities Symposium at UT Knoxville this past weekend to present their research.  Katie Cowart and Caton Taylor received 1st place on their poster presentation on Human-Robot Interaction research.

 

*The last day to sign up for an audition time for the Madrigal Singers will be a week from today, Monday March 11. Don't wait to too long to do this - also don’t forget you need an audition packet!  See Mr. Brenner if you have any questions.

 

*Seniors in National Spanish Honor Society: Your Graduation Cord Order is due by Friday, March 8th. The cost is $12. See Ms. Pinson with any questions!

 

*High school students attending SEYA book festival should get forms from their first period teacher today. If they don’t, they can see Morris

In room 106. Forms are due 3/7.

 

*Any Junior who is interested in attending Boys State or Girls State this summer will need to see Mrs. Gerhart in Guidance for more information. Students must have a 3.75 or higher to be eligible.

 

*Spring Pictures will be taken March 7th during the early dismissal day.

 

*The softball teams will be hosting a bowling scramble at Lanes, Trains, & Automobiles next Sat the 9th from 9:30-11:30. Find a softball player and join a team. Prizes given!

 

*The Middle School Track Team had a cold but great first meet this past weekend.  In a dominant performance, Ella Anderson, Emmaline Whit, Taylor Walker, and Mikayla Morrell won the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 12:13.  Central sprinters had some great performances, including a 2nd place finish in the girls 4x400 relay

by Claudia Mitchell, Emmaline Whitt, Reily Gusman, and Julia Ann Hamilton.  The Middle School Tigers will be back on the track this weekend at Riverdale.

 

*The Middle School Boys soccer team lost to DeKalb Middle School 2 to 0.  Isiah Richard and Jonathan Warner each had 3 saves.  The JV team tied 0 to 0.  The next game is here tonight against Avery Trace Middle School,

game time is 5:00.
