Student at Central Magnet School Wins Global Citizen Scholarship
Mikayla Morrell, an eighth-grade student at Central Magnet School, has won the 2019 Global Citizen Scholarship Award her achievement on the National Spanish Examination and for her excellent skills in the Spanish language.
This national award, valued at $2,150 is given each year up to sixteen students from across the United States who becomes eligible by earning high scores on the National Spanish Examination and then submitting samples of their written and oral work in Spanish to a selection committee appointed by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.
In July, Mikayla Morrell will be traveling with 14 additional winners to study at the Concordia Language Villages in Bemidji, MN. The scholarship covers the cost of tuition for a two-week Spanish immersion program.
Central Magnet School, which has a long history of excellence in academics and has participated in the National Spanish Examination for the last eight years. Congratulations to Mikayla Morrell and Mrs. Kime, who should be very proud of their accomplishments.
