Mu Alpha Theta will be tutoring every Wednesday morning from 7:15-7:45 and Wednesday afternoon from 3:15-4:00 in Ms. Smithson's room (room 100).  Stop by to review over your homework or ask some questions in the afternoon before going home!  Also, don't forget about Tiger Time in Ms. Taylor's room during 6th period for all students.  

 

The Birthday Book Club fundraiser is in full swing. The middle school students are doing a wonderful job with donations to purchase new books for the library. So far, we have enough donations to purchase 78 books for the CMS Library. Any middle or high school student can go online to the library webpage and fill out the link to join, and all checks can be made to Central Magnet and dropped off in the library. Thank you for supporting the library program! 

 

Juniors and Seniors, if you are interested in joining the Science National Honor Society, please go to the website for the application link.  Applicants must have an overall GPA greater than 3.5 and a science class GPA greater than 3.75.  The application link will be available until Monday, Oct 11th.  Please see Mr. Bonanno with any questions. 

 

SNHS has officially started offering tutoring for all science subjects available to high school students during C and D lunches. The sign-up link can be found on the SNHS web page (or as a QR code on a poster located in all high school science classrooms.) Tutoring sessions will take place in Room 131 on Monday and Wednesday and Room 128 on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. If you have any questions, please contact Emily Morgan or Mr. Bonanno.   

 

Next week is Spirit Week!! Monday will be Comfy Day. Remember that you outfit must be in dress code and pajamas are not allowed. Tuesday will be Tropical Day. Wednesday is Western Day. Thursday is Throwback Day. Wear something from your favorite decade. On Friday, wear your class colors or black and gold! More info about Friday’s Spirit Day is coming soon!  

 

Young Life will meet Monday, the 27th, at Owen and Grayson Zubkus' home. All high school students are invited.  

 

Today is the last day for HOSA dues and membership applications to be submitted. Please bring your money to Ms. Guthrie or Mrs. Harrison by 3pm this afternoon. 

 

The high school fall play, Radium Girls, is this weekend. Friday and Saturday at 7pm; Sunday at 2pm. Radium Girls is a fascinating story based on true events and set in the 1920's. Tickets are sold at the door: $10 for adults, $5 for students. Come out and support your CMS theatre department! 

Attention Seniors: MTSU is waiving their application fee this week, Sept. 20-26.  When completing your applications, ust select “yes” to the question that says, “Do you have a fee waiver?”.    

 

Parnassus Books, the amazing independent bookstore in Nashville, will be taking pre-orders online September 21st through the 28th. All pre-ordered books will be delivered to CMS for pick up during Pig Out on Friday, October 1st. Parnassus will also be bringing books to sell on the day of the Pig Out, but the best way to secure the books you would like is to place a pre-order. Pre-ordering also allows you to purchase any books they have access to in their store. Visit the CMS Library website to find the link to shop early and pre-order or scan the QR code on a bulletin board around the school with the Parnassus logo. 

 

Any middle school student interested in auditioning for Matilda Jr: There will be an audition clinic during CT on Wednesday, September 29th in Dr. Saxon's room. Ms. Sweet and Dr. Saxon will discuss auditions details like what to expect, what to prepare, and what to bring. If interested, please make sure to attend that clinic. An audition packet and information will be provided on Ms. Sweet's and Dr. Saxon's websites.  

 

On September 28th from 4-8 PM, the Middle School cheerleading squad will be holding a fundraiser night at Chipotle on 2113 Memorial Blvd in Murfreesboro. Any order placed during that timeslot will go toward supporting your CMS Middle School cheerleaders. Make sure to tell the cashier you are there to support our squad, or the funds will not go toward us. If you still want to support, but don't want to sit inside, you can place an online order using the code "XP9M9JB." Any online orders using that code will also support our girls. Are you interested in joining the Archery Team? There will be virtual parent meeting on Monday, September 27th at 5:30 pm.  The archery team is open to both MS and HS students.  If you plan on joining the 2021-2022 CMS Archery Team, please have a parent join this meeting.  A zoom link will be provided on the website the day of the meeting. 

 

Congratulations to the middle school cross-country team for competing in the Middle TN Sectional Meet yesterday. Both the boys’ and girls’ teams will be going to the state championships based on their performances. Dexter Trageser (TRAY guh sir) took 3rd place in a race with over 100 other competitors. Odessa Chabot (shuh BOE) and Catherine Zubkus took 2nd and 3rd in a girl’s race with over 100 participants, as well. Both teams race again on Saturday at the Rutherford County Championships. at Rockvale HS. 

 

Girls Middle school tennis is 8 and 0 after their win against Oakland yesterday.  The boys team lost 2-3 in tough matches against a strong team, making it 7 and 1 ahead Thursday's final regular season match and the county championship October 13th.  

 

If you were absent and need to have your fall picture taken for the yearbook, Loveless will be at CMS on November 5th for make ups. November 5th is also the day that Loveless will be at CMS to take portraits for any seniors who have not already had them taken at the Loveless studio.
