We'd like to congratulate the following 11th and 12th grade band and orchestra students for being accepted into Mid-State this year: Jocelyn Bullock, trombone, Lily Gravley, bass clarinet, Micah Warren, jazz saxophone, Julianna Brown, viola, Joshua Guaz, violin, Isabella Kinard, viola, Alex Norwood, viola, and Anna Robertson, viola. In addition, we'd like to recognize Anna Robertson for being accepted into the All-State Orchestra, which is the highest honor a high school musician can receive. Be sure to congratulate these students when you see them! 

The Class of 2022 is selling Central Magnet Yard Signs.  We have general Central Magnet signs as well as signs celebrating our athletic teams, senior class, and band.  We even have signs for grandparents!  Check out https://rocket.ist/Centralmagnet.  This link is also available on the Senior Class webpage.  The last day to order is December 12th.  Signs will be delivered to the school in early January.   

Eight of our Chess Team students took part in the tournament at Lipscomb Academy on Saturday.  The High School Team consisting of (Parker Dawes and Johnathan Warner) took 2nd place.  Our Jr. High Team won the 1st place trophy.  Individually, Anshuman Amraotikar took home 5th place, Hunter Higgs placed 10th, and Manasvi Shah earned an 11th place medal.  CMS Elementary Team won 3rd place in a large section with only three players.  This Team was led by Sabrina Hoja who tied for 1st place!  Zoey Boston in her first tournament and Lainey Striepling also played very well.  We are proud of our students and look forward to future events. 

Young Life’s last club of the semester is this Monday at 7:57 pm at Owen and Grayson Zubkus’ house 2261 Oakleigh drive. Wear your tacky Christmas sweater and come enjoy a night with your friends. 

Congratulations to the following students for placing at the Beta State Convention and are qualified to compete at the National Convention in June: Visual Arts Winners: Ali Mellon-Ramos (4th), Angel Hu (3rd), Lilly Brown (2nd), Ellie Burton (4th), Kaitlyn Elliott (2nd), Ella Edge (1st); Academics: Hope Clark (LA - 3rd); Anna Niedzielski (LA, 2nd), Ashleigh Clark and Ella Clark (Math, 2nd); Emma Grey (Science, 5th), Isaac Smith (Science 2nd), Samantha Warren and Will Starling (4th Spanish); Group Talent (3rd place) and congrats to those group talent students invited to perform at the national convention; and finally, Josh Guaz (1st place Solo Talent) 

Students, this is a reminder: there is to be no dropping off in the morning or picking up after school in the front parking lot. 

The middle school drama department presents Matilda Jr! Performances are December 3rd and 4th @ 7pm and December 5th @ 5:00pm. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and are sold at the door. Come out and support your fellow students!  

The HS girls’ basketball team went 2-1 last week. Defeated Eagleville last Monday night 52-42. Olivia Hart led all scorers with 19pts and 11 rebounds, Kaitlin Polly had 17 pts, Addison Melton had a triple double with 12pts, 11reb, & 10 assist and Reese Carlisle chipped in 4 pts. The girls lost to Cookeville on Friday 58-42. Olivia Hart had 17 pts & 7 reb, Addison Melton had 14pts, Reilly McMillan added 5pts, Kaitlin Polly had 4 and Bethany Jackson pitched in 2 pts. Saturday the Lady Tigers defeated Grace Christian 56-36. Olivia Hart had 19 pts, Bethany Jackson 12pts, Kaitlin Polly added 11pts, Addison Melton added 8pts and Reilly McMillan had 6pts. 

The 1st regular season basketball home game is Tuesday night November 30th vs Mt. Pleasant High School. The first 100 students to come to the game will receive free pizza.  See the Striped Squad leaders for details on the theme for the night. Let's make tomorrow night a great night for basketball here at Central Magnet. 

If you are interested in traveling to either Central Europe or Greece in 2023, a meeting will be held for students and parents on Monday, November 29 at 7:00 p.m. in Coach Snow's room 205. For additional information, you may contact Coach Snow via email. 

The Golden Cup is a high school tradition where classes compete to earn the most points by participating in extra-curricular activities, attending school events, participating in dress-up days, winning the spirit stick, and more.  After being on hold for a couple of years, the Golden Cup is back!!  
 
To see the current point totals, check out the Golden Cup cabinet in the upstairs hallway above the cafeteria.  The following events are opportunities to earn points for the rest of the semester.  When you attend the event, make sure to scan the QR code and complete the form to record your attendance.
