High School Students:  For those interested in earning the Seal of Biliteracy, there will be a meeting Wednesday, September 14th at 3:15 in Mrs. Dixon's Room - Room #221.  We'll discuss what steps you need to take to receive this prestigious award.  Juniors & Seniors are especially encouraged to attend.  

Seniors, field trip permission forms and money must be turned in to Dr. Guthrie no later than September 14th! 

Students wishing to join HS Beta submit completed applications to Dr. Roland in room 120 by Friday, September 9.  If you have any questions, ask Dr. Roland or Ms. SK. 

All junior Beta members should see the club Teams page regarding club dues. Dues are $30 and need to be submitted before Fall Break.  

High school students, have you ever looked at a shirt or poster design and thought, I could have made a better design than that? Then Design Club is for you.  Design Club's mission is to provide CMS teams, clubs, organizations and classes design options for their posters or shirts.  If you are in high school and have an eye for artistic design, please join us in Room 131 today, during club rotation D.   

High School First Priority is a club that promotes Christian community and meets in Mr. Barham's room on Tuesdays at 7:30 for lessons and meets in Mrs. Pinson's room on Thursdays at 7:30 for discussion and prayer time. We hope to see you there! 

Current Global Issues is hosting a food drive for Nourish Food Bank. Items are being collected in college corner, in the front office, and in room 345 in the annex. If you have any questions, contact Jackie Dummermuth or Aleeza Razzaq. 

The Mental Health Initiative is holding their first meeting all the year today during CT at 9:45 in Ms. Way-Kiani’s room. Their goal is to normalize conversations about mental health among teens while providing genuine, helpful resources for mental health and well-being. This is going to be a safe and inclusive space for all high school Central students. Snacks such as Chick-fil-a, cookies, fruits, and other refreshments will be provided. All high school students are welcome, so please come, bring your friends, and be a part of the conversation about mental health! 

If you are taking the ACT on Sept. 10, 2022 at Central Magnet School, PLEASE LEAVE EARLY to get here!!! There is a race occurring that will affect your drive in. There will be road closures. You will be allowed to come through to get to the back, high school parking lot if you tell race workers or police officers you are taking the ACT. We will open the doors at 7:35-7:40. The test will begin promptly at 8:00. PLEASE ALSO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR ID AND ADMISSION TICKET! (ACT prohibits entry without those items). An email was sent with more details. Please let Guidance know if you didn't receive it. 

A fire can breakout with little or no warning. The more prepared you are, the safer you will be. Smoke detectors should be located on every floor of your home and near all places that you and your family sleep. Smoke detector batteries should be changed on a regular basis. 

If you drive and park at CMS, you should have a parking pass visible in your car.  

HS tennis will be having a spirit night at Blaze pizza on Medical Center Parkway on Thursday, September 15 from 5-9pm. Flyers to present at the location are available from Coach Angel or from HS players, or you can take a photo to present. Please come out to support your high school tennis team.  

Tennis had their 3rd match against a strong Siegel team yesterday. Despite good matches, the girls came up short this time, but the boys team won 3-1.  

The High Girl's soccer team advanced to 7-2 on the season and 2-0 in district with a 2-1 win over Lincoln Co.  Jill Londre and Julia Ann Hamilton scored the goals and Josie Bush tacked on an assist. 

The Spanish Department would like to invite interested High School students and their families to the COSTA RICA Immersion and Service Trip Interest Meeting, this upcoming Monday, September 12th at 5:30 p.m. in Ms. Pinson's room, 208. Ms Jazmin Prater, Tour Guide with Pura Vida with Purpose will be there with all trip details! See a Spanish teacher for questions.
