he Final Round of the 2022 CMS GeoBee will be Tuesday. The ten finalists should report to Coach Burns' room at the very beginning of 6th period. This should give us plenty of time to finish before A lunch.

Emma Grifftith, Jayden Po'e, and William  Parker were also selected for the All-State Orchestra, which ranks them among the best high school musicians in the state. 

Congratulations to the following students for being selected to Mid-State from the 9th Grade Band Class! Way to go Rylan King, Ethan Yang & Harrison Hamby! Good Luck to 7th and 8th graders next week! 

Congratulations to the following students who placed in the top five at the Beta State Convention, earning them a spot to compete at nationals this summer:  Ray Swicord, Daniel Le, Brady Stone, Lilly Ann Brown, Megan Zhao, Rylee Pelham, Benjamin Xiao, Kylie London, Kaitlyn Elliott, Isaac Smith, Andrew Smith, and Evan LaRoy.  Group Talent and Living Literature both placed 2nd.  The following students placed first in their competitions: Marissa Bratsch, Matthew Smith, Angel Hu and the Robotics Team. 

DECA will be hosting a Middle School Dance for grades 6th-8th on Friday, December 9, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tickets will be $10 and sold at the door. The theme for the dance will be Winter Wonderland. Wear your favorite Christmas outfit and be ready to dance the night away with your friends! 

Rho Kappa is collecting soda tabs this holiday season for the Ronald McDonald's House at Vanderbilt's Children's Hospital. They collect aluminum pull tabs from any container (soda pop, soup, pet food, etc.) and work with a local recycler to turn those tabs into money for families of seriously ill or injured children receiving medical treatment at Nashville area hospitals.  Our group is collecting these until December 15th. Any donation can be sent to Mr. Eldridge's room (115). 

The audition packet for the high school spring musical, The Sound of Music, is now available on Mrs. Sweet's website. Vocal auditions are Wednesday, December 14. Make sure to sign up for a time slot using the signup genius link that is located in the audition packet. There will be three middle school roles offered for this musical. Middle school students interested in auditioning should read the audition packet carefully and email Mrs. Sweet. 

The High School swim team had a meet this past Saturday at Riverdale High School against Green Hill High School and PCA. The team had great wins from the boys, girls, and combined as a team. Congratulations to the following swimmers who placed first in at least one of their events: Evan Keegan, Jean Drugmand, Joaquin Rios, Nic Sands, Taylor Walker, Jackie Dummermuth, Evie Riley, Kim Bao Nguyen, Lilly Ann Brown, Noah Koenig, Elijah Messick, and Yao Xiao. Congratulations to the following swimmers who qualified for Regionals in at least one of their events: Lilly Ann Brown, Evie Riley, Cameron Walker, Jean Drugmand, Kim Bao Nguyen, Jackie Dummermuth, Evan Keegan, Peyton Walker, Taylor Walker, Sarah Gwen Arnold, Kaitlyn Elliott, Joaquin Rios, and Yao Xiao. The Tigers will be back in the pool for their third division meet against Stewarts Creek on Saturday.  

Central Magnet’s own Ryley Correll represented his school in the CTWC Individual Conference Championship Saturday. The CTWC, comprised of 23 teams, is the largest middle school conference in the state of Tennessee.   Ryley finished the day 3-1 on his way to being the CTWC 78 pound runner-up.  Ryley was undefeated at the 16 team CTWC Kickoff Duals, was the War at Warren runner-up, and the Rutherford County 78 pound Champion. He was also the CTWC Championship 78 pound runner-up. Ryley was 18-3 season record with 15 pins. He has a career middle school record 43-5. 

This upcoming Wednesday, the 7th, the middle school cheer squad will be having their last Spirit Night at Panda Express on Memorial Blvd to raise funds for nationals in February. The event will take place from the time they open (10:30 AM) until closing (9 PM). All you have to do is let them know you're there for the middle school cheer squad and we will receive a portion of the funds. Thank you, and we hope to see you there! 

The middle school cheerleading squad is excited to announce that we are selling a vintage CMS sweatshirt. It is available in both youth and adult sizes. A portion of the proceeds will support our squad as we raise funds for nationals in February. The last day to purchase a sweatshirt is December 11th. The delivery will be on January 6th. You can either access the link that can be found on the middle school cheerleading page, or look for a flyer with a QR code to order. Thank you in advance for your support! 

Congratulations to all of our archers that participated in the tournament this past weekend. We had two archers place in the bullseye tournament.  Ev Phillips placed 2nd in the MS Female Division and Owen Taylor placed 3rd in the MS Male Division.  In the 3D tournament, Owen Taylor was the 1st place MS Male, Jackson Harris was 2nd place HS Male and Mikayla Harris was the 5th place HS Female.  

The Lady Tigers JV team picked up two wins this weekend to improve their record to 3-0. The first game the Lady Tigers defeated LaVergne 37-8.   Julia Stuible and Reagan Brand led the Tigers in scoring with 10pts each, Reese Martin had 8pts, Libby Hines added 5pts, and Clara Johnson and Ella Kate Harris chipped in 2pts each.  

In the 2nd game the Lady Tigers defeated Wilson Central 54-25. The Lady Tigers was again led in scoring by Reagan Brand and Julia Stuible who both had 15pts apiece, Clara Johnson had 11pts, Reese Martin had 8pts, Juliet Dasch had 3pts and Ella Kate Harris finished with 2pts.  The Lady Tigers JV will be in action next on Dec. 17th and 18th as they participate in a Christmas tournament at Ravenwood HS. 

Coach Snow will be leading a blockbuster WWII History Tour in the summer of 2024. An informational meeting for students and parents will be held in room 205 on Monday, December 5 at 6:00 p.m.
