We would like to congratulate 7th grade violinist Jason Lin and 8th grade violinist Laila Vaughn on being accepted into the Mid-State Orchestra over the weekend. The acceptance rate for violin was about 1 in 4, so we are very proud of their achievement! 

High school students that are eligible to leave after mid-terms, please make sure you have a parent note to give to your teacher each day. You will sign out of class and do not need to go through attendance- you must have parent permission. 

Congratulations to Heidi McDaniel & Jason Dyer for being selected for the MID-STATE BAND. Both students were selected for positions in the GOLD band and will perform next month. Congratulations to all that auditioned! 

The Central Car club is looking for high school volunteers to help with the Stones River Swap Meet on February 4th and 5th. You can work one or both days. If you are interested or have questions, please email Officer Culp at culps@rcschools or come by and see Mrs. Culp in room 236. 

Rho Kappa is collecting soda tabs this holiday season for the Ronald McDonald's House at Vanderbilt's Children's Hospital. They collect aluminum pull tabs from any container (soda pop, soup, pet food, etc.) and work with a local recycler to turn those tabs into money for families of seriously ill or injured children receiving medical treatment at Nashville area hospitals.  Our group is collecting these until December 15th. Any donation can be sent to Mr. Eldridge's room (115). 

Tonight, December 12th, the Mental Health Initiative is hosting a mid-term study night complete with tutors and snacks at the Linebaugh library from 5-7:30 pm. Any highschooler looking for help is invited. On Tuesday, December 13th, a yoga instructor will be at Linebaugh Library from 4-5 pm for anyone interested in stretching and de-stressing. Bring your own mat or towel! 

Remember to get your SF1010 form in Attendance if you plan on getting your Driver's Permit over the Christmas holiday. 

The audition packet for the high school spring musical, The Sound of Music, is now available on Mrs. Sweet's website. Vocal auditions are Wednesday, December 14. Make sure to sign up for a time slot using the signup genius link that is located in the audition packet. There will be three middle school roles offered for this musical. Middle school students interested in auditioning should read the audition packet carefully and email Mrs. Sweet. 

The Central Magnet Men's Basketball Team spilt 2 games on Friday and Saturday. The Tigers lost a nail biter on Friday night at Hillwood 46-45 in Overtime. The Tigers were led by Mason Brown with 16 points, Jake Maddox with 8 points and Owen Zubkus and Alex Perry chipped in 6 each. The Tigers are now 1-1 in District 10AAA. 

The Tigers came back and played Saturday afternoon when they took on the Forrest Rockets and they defeated them by a score of 64-26.  The Tigers were led by Mason Brown with 15 points, Will Becker with 11 with Owen Zubkus chipping in 9 points and Carson Wood and Isaac Smith scoring 8 each.  The Tigers will be back in action on Tuesday when they renew their rivalry with the Cannon County Lions. 

The HS girls' basketball team is looking for a student to video their ballgames. Please see Coach Bush for more information. 

The High School JV boys basketball team suffered their first loss of the season, 39-36, on Friday night at Hillwood. The team was led in scoring by John Hays and Josh Bartolotto who had 9 points each. Eli Fearns chipped in 7 points and Garett Florida had 6.  Come out tomorrow night as we host Cannon County.
