High Schoolers and Middle Schoolers, compete with your friends against other students from across the state by solving language puzzles, and enjoy an afternoon meeting MTSU faculty and possibly winning top awards for your abilities. The musical theatre club is having a showcase performance on Thursday, March 23rd at 7pm in the auditorium. The club consists of both middle and high school student at Central and admission is free! Please come and out and support your fellow students and enjoy an evening of entertainment! Did I mention it was free?!
Are you a high achieving rising junior or senior? Do you like science? If so, Science National Honors society is taking applications for new members for next school year. The applications can be found on the SNHS website and must be submitted by Thursday, April 6th. If you want to be considered for an Officer position you must fill out a separate application that is also due April 6th. Officer positions are open to any existing and applying new members. Attention All Students: As usual, we will have Reading Rooms available this Thursday during spirit day activities. You may sign up for a Reading Room by using the link on Ms. Dixon’s webpage OR by scanning the QR Codes which are located on the auditorium doors as well as beside Ms. Hale’s room. This is an opportunity for students who enjoy a quieter atmosphere to avoid the noise and crowds of Spirit Day. Please remember that with the exception of going to the restroom, students are to remain in their Reading Room until the next activity.

Middle School Students- If you are interested in trying out for Middle school Cheer for the 2023-2024 school year, you need an information packet. Please stop by Mrs. Huffman's office, Dr. Hines' office, or print one out from the MS Cheer website. There is a MANDATORY parent meeting April 10 at 6 pm in the senior cafeteria. The lady tigers MS Softball team dropped a heartbreaker Monday night with the final score of 3-4 at Rockvale Middle. 7th-grade Pitcher, Charlee Denney, showed her grit in the circle pitching all 7 innings and only holding the rockets to 4 runs. 6th-grade catcher, Quinn Ertl caught all 7 innings and held a commanding plate.
Offensively, Cad Young hit a single in the 4th inning and Sam Odell has credit for the RBI in the next at-bat. El Foss also tallied an RBI in the 6th inning bringing the tigers within 60 feet of tying the game.
The team plays Christiana Thursday on field 3 at the Starplex.
JV tennis is 1 and 1 for the start of their season after their match with MTCS and traveling to Thompson Station yesterday.
The high school soccer team opened up district play today with a 7-1 win over Lincoln Co. Will Kassebaum put on a man of the match performance with 4 goals. Jacob Gardner, Miles Ritter, and Jeremiah Broyles all scored a goal. Kellen Feltz, Jacob Gardner, and Jake Petty all had assists. Nick Held and Isaiah Phillips split time in goal combining for 4 saves.
The Central Tigers High School team started 2-0 in district play with a double header sweep of Glenclif. Will Becker led the Tigers with 3 hits. Nathan Stewart; Dawson McCrary; Jake Maddox; John Cook; Hayden Griggs; Jake Hogue; Carter Long; John Hays and Jackson Foster all had 2 hits on the day. Collin Wind threw a perfect game in game 1- striking out 9 in 3 innings. Walker Hayes threw a perfect game in game 2 striking out 7 in 3 innings. The Tigers are back in action today versus Hillsboro. 5:00 start at Starplex. Students get in free.
The high school softball team dropped a 6-1 decision to non-district foe Shelbyville central on Tuesday night. Reese Carlisle drove in the lone run and finished the night two for three Hali Phillips chipped in two hits as well. Jacey Goetzinger pitched 5 and 1/3rd allowing no runs on only three hits, while striking out seven. The Lady Tigers return to action Friday afternoon as part of the Riverdale Southern warrior classic to be played at barfield Park.
The Varsity middle school boys soccer team defeated Rockvale on Monday with a score of 4-0. Scoring goals for the Tigers were Carson Phillips, Kai Jones, Evan Lee, and JT Parkerson. Brady Barrett had the shut out as goalie for the game. That is his second shutout of the season.
The JV also won their game with a score of 5-1. Scoring goals for the Tigers were Jao Vongsavath, Adrian Meho, and Caleb Beyene.
The Tigers take on Christiana tomorrow at home. Students get in free so come on out and support your team.
