The library will be collecting books and laptops for inventory soon. Please pay close attention to the announcements for due dates and any special instructions from the librarians.
Any senior that has a library book or school issued laptop checked out needs to return it by Friday, May 5th. Your English teachers have a schedule to come to the library on May 4th and 5th, so please come prepared to return your books and laptops during your English class.
Junior Field trip permission forms have been distributed through English classes. Please turn in money and forms to Dr. Guthrie no later than May 17th.
Attention rising 8th and 12th grade students. We are searching for new mentors for the 2023-2024 school year. 8th grade students will mentor 6th grade students and seniors will mentor 9th grade students. Mentors are in good academic and behavior standing here at Central Magnet. Our mentors are model students. If you are interested in being a mentor next year, please visit the mentoring website and complete the form expressing your interest. Stop by to see Mr. Nichols if you have any questions.
If you are interested in trying out for middle school volleyball, please see Mrs. Hendrixson in room 345 to pick up an information sheet before May 12th. Tryouts will be held on May 30th at 9:30am in the gym.
Tryouts for the HS basketball team will be May 16th from 3:30-5:30 for any students presently enrolled at Central. You must have physical forms etc. uploaded into "Final Forms". If you have questions, please see coach Bush.

The middle school district tournament was held Tuesday at Cedar Crest Golf course. The boys team including Brandon Alston, Justin Grissom, Felix Jeong, Daniel Choe, and Jude Austin Placed 7th out of 14 teams. The girls team including Jian Jian Gao, Sadie Call, and Emma Ibrahim placed 4th out of 10 teams. Jian Jian will be moving on to Regionals for lowest individual score next Wednesday at Two Rivers Golf Course.
The men's high school soccer team opens up with postseason play today at 5:30 PM here at Central Magnet against Lawrence Co. Cost to attend is $5.
The Central Tigers defeated Hume-Fogg by a score of 10-0 to advance to the District Championship game and qualify for the Regional Tournament. Jake Maddox threw a no-hitter for his 4th straight shutout and extend his scoreless innings streak. Jake was also 2 for 2 with 3 rbi and 2 stolen bases. Mitchell Coons had two hits and scored two runs. Adam Apigian reached base 3 times scoring two runs and driving in the 10th run. The Tigers will play Hillwood at 4:30 for the District Championship.
Congratulations to tiger tennis on their district championship team wins against Siegel yesterday. The individual tournament starts today with regional set for next week. Please wish them luck as they continue their post season journey.
Now that prom is over, if anyone has a formal dress from this year or previous that they no longer want, please bring them to Mrs. Stanley's room (234). She will be donating them to a local Habitat for Humanity ReStore.
