Library passes will open on Monday, August 21st. Until that time, students may check out books before or after school and print before or after school. Teachers, if students ask to go to the library, please direct them to send an e-mail to the librarians with their questions. Hang in there...we will be open for business soon! 

Are you interested in student council? We are holding Elections for freshman officers, a representative for each class, and sophomore class Secretary and Historian. To run for office, you must attend a mandatory meeting today, August 16 during A or D lunch.  

Correction to yesterday's announcements: Audition packets for Frozen, Jr. will not be available until Thursday, August 17. 

Are you in Choir, Strings, or Band? Consider joining Tri-M Music Honor Society! There are fun music service opportunities, and you get to work with your fellow musicians at Central. Tri-M is open to middle and high school students, and we meet during B-rotation in Mrs. Way-Kiani's room (341 in the annex).  

The last day to change to a different class will be Friday, August 18. The last day to change levels in a class will be Friday, Sept. 1. A change form must be completed. These forms can be found outside of Guidance or on the CMS Counseling webpage. 

High School Students - Friday, August 18 we begin signing up for the PSAT Test!  The test will be given during the school day on Wednesday, October 11. The cost to sign up is $18 and you can pay in attendance. You may also pay online but there will be a service charge bringing your cost to $19.  You may sign up from August 18-September 1. If you have any questions about the PSAT, see your guidance counselor, attendance, or Mrs. Huffman. 

7th grade Immunization deadline is Tuesday, August 22nd. If you have not provided proof that you have received the required Tdap vaccine by the 22nd, you will not be allowed to return to school until you do so. Those students whose records that we do not have, Nurse Anderson emailed your parent on Friday the 11th. If you have any questions, please email Nurse Anderson or stop by the clinic. 

Parking passes are $5 in attendance. You will need your car license number to purchase a pass.  Anyone who parks on our campus will need to purchase a parking pass. 

A fire can breakout with little or no warning. The more prepared you are, the safer you will be. Know your emergency evacuation routes at school and at home. Don’t forget to identify a secondary evacuation route in case your primary route is not available. 

Seniors: The Dollywood field trip is September 22. Please get permission forms from your English Teacher. The notarized form and your money is due to Dr. Guthrie no later than September 13th.  

Attention ALL High School Student Athletes: Please meet in the Auditorium Wednesday, August 16th during CT for a guest Speaker.  

Seniors, the High School Girls Soccer Team will be hosting a FALL BALL for the Senior Class and their dates on Sunday, September 10th from 7 to 10 pm at Legacy Farms. Tickets go on sale Monday August 21st and can be purchased in the Senior Cafeteria during C and D lunch and after school in the attendance office (See Dr. Guthrie). Tickets are 50.00 each and are for Seniors at Central Magnet School only and their guest. If your guest does not go to CMS, you must have the form filled out prior to buying the ticket. Only one guest is allowed per student. We will follow the same procedure as purchasing prom tickets. If you have any questions; please see a Senior Soccer Player, Coach Brindos or Mrs. Eubanks. You must have a valid ID and ticket for entry to the dance. 

Do you enjoy competitive swimming? The Central Magnet Swim team might be the sport for you! Coach O'Hara will host an informational meeting about the upcoming season via Zoom on Tuesday, August 22 at 7 pm. Sign-ups and the Zoom link can be found on the CMS Swim website.  

The high school varsity volleyball team opened their season with a 3-0 win over District foe Marshall County on Tuesday night; 25-14, 25-14, 25-10. The Tigers put together a well-rounded team victory with 7 players tallying kills in the match. Noella Obi led the way with 10 service aces, while Becca Jerkins and Maddie Porter each chipped in 12 assists. The JV team also opened their season with a 2-1 win. Led by Emma Williams 5 kills and 5 service aces, and Kelsey Martinez's 5 aces and 4 kills. Both teams will return to action Thursday night for a match at Cascade. The first home volleyball match will be Friday. This will be a 4:00 varsity start- please make plans to attend!
