The 6th grade team would like to recognize Hashem Abu Halimah as the Central Magnet 6th grader of the week. Hashem is very helpful to students and teachers and always has a positive attitude. Way to go, Hashem!  

Are you in Choir, Strings, or Band? Consider joining Tri-M Music Honor Society! There are fun music service opportunities, and you get to work with your fellow musicians at Central. Tri-M is open to middle and high school students, and we meet during B-rotation in Mrs. Way-Kiani's room (341 in the annex).  

¡Hola Students! If you have Hispanic roots, or a special connection with someone who does, you might want to check out a new club for High Schoolers at Central. H.O.L.A is our club name. It stands for Hispanic Organization for Leadership and Awareness. Our mission is to promote and preserve Hispanic American culture and cross-cultural communication, as well as to support our local Hispanic community with service projects. Mrs. Kime is the club sponsor, and we meet during A rotation in room 213. If you want to learn more about the club or have any questions, please e-mail Mrs. Kime or join us on Monday for our first meeting.  

If you would like to join HOSA this year, dues are $30 to cover HOSA member fees and a club t-shirt. Dues can be paid in cash or with a check make out to Central Magnet HOSA and must be submitted by September 1st to Mrs. Harrison or Mrs. Hendrixson in the annex. You must have completed and selected YES on the opt-in form prior to submitting these dues to be a HOSA member. Please see Mrs. Harrison or Mrs. Hendrixson with any questions! 

Today is the last day to change to a different class! The last day to change levels in a class will be Friday, Sept. 1. A change form must be completed. These forms can be found outside of Guidance or on the CMS Counseling webpage. 

High School Students - Friday, August 18 we begin signing up for the PSAT Test!  The test will be given during the school day on Wednesday, October 11. The cost to sign up is $18 and you can pay in attendance. You may also pay online but there will be a service charge bringing your cost to $19.  You may sign up from August 18-September 1. If you have any questions about the PSAT, see your guidance counselor, attendance, or Mrs. Huffman 

Seniors, Check your email for a link for appointments with your counselor.  Counselors will be meeting with seniors August 21 through September 1. 

College Corner has begun! It will be every Tuesday during C/D lunches (12:30-1:30). Montevallo visited this week. As of now, we do not have any colleges signed up for the next two Tuesdays, but keep checking the school calendar as that could change at any time. Starting in Sept. we have lots of great colleges coming to visit, so stop by to see them! 

7th grade Immunization deadline is Tuesday, August 22nd. If you have not provided proof that you have received the required Tdap vaccine by the 22nd, you will not be allowed to return to school until you do so. Those students whose records that we do not have, Nurse Anderson emailed your parent on Friday the 11th. If you have any questions, please email Nurse Anderson or stop by the clinic. 

Attention on middle school students! Audition packets for Frozen Jr are now available! You can find the packets on Mrs. Sweet or Mr. Germany's websites. All information you need to know about what to prepare and expect for the audition and rehearsal process is in this packet. There are also audition songs provided. Print outs of audition forms and song cuts can also be found outside Mrs. Sweet's room. Any students interested in a breakdown of the packet, please go to Mrs. Sweet's room, Annex room 344, at the beginning of CT on Monday, August 21st. Please make sure to check in with your CT teacher before heading to the meeting. Auditions will be August 30 with callbacks on August 31st.   

Parking passes are $5 in attendance. You will need your car license number to purchase a pass.  Anyone who parks on our campus will need to purchase a parking pass. 

A fire can breakout with little or no warning. The more prepared you are, the safer you will be. Know your emergency evacuation routes at school and at home. Don’t forget to identify a secondary evacuation route in case your primary route is not available. 

Attention  Seniors: The Dollywood field trip is September 22. Please get permission forms from your English Teacher. The notarized form and your money is due to Dr. Guthrie no later than September 13th.  

Seniors, the High School Girls Soccer Team will be hosting a FALL BALL for the Senior Class and their dates on Sunday, September 10th from 7 to 10 pm at Legacy Farms. Tickets go on sale Monday August 21st and can be purchased in the Senior Cafeteria during C and D lunch and after school in the attendance office (See Dr. Guthrie). Tickets are 50.00 each and are for Seniors at Central Magnet School only and their guest. If your guest does not go to CMS, you must have the form filled out prior to buying the ticket. Only one guest is allowed per student. We will follow the same procedure as purchasing prom tickets. If you have any question; please see a Senior Soccer Player, Coach Brindos or Mrs. Eubanks. You must have a valid ID and ticket for entry to the dance. 

Do you enjoy competitive swimming? The Central Magnet Swim team might be the sport for you! Coach O'Hara will host an informational meeting about the upcoming season via Zoom on Tuesday, August 22 at 7 pm. Sign-ups and the Zoom link can be found on the CMS Swim website.  

Congratulations to our middle school volleyball team for their first season win against LaVergne Middle on Wednesday night! Their next home game is Monday the 21st, so come out and support your middle school lady tigers! 

The High School Volleyball team picked up a district win over Cascade on Thursday night to move to 2 and 0 on the season. The tigers were led by Noella Obi's 17 kills and 4 Aces. Maddie Porter chipped in 16 assists, 10 digs and 2 aces. Grace Martindale had 12 Digs and 4 aces.  

The JV team lost to a scrappy Champions team 2-0. They were led by Margo Ihrie's 11 assists, and Kelsey Martinez's 6 kills and 3 aces.  

Both teams return to action this afternoon against St. Cecilia for a 4:00 varsity start. JV will play after the varsity match. Please make plans to attend as we attempt to pack the house for Stripe Squad Appreciation Day. Pizza will be provided for Stripe Squad members in attendance!
