Tiger Time Math Tutoring starts this week.  You may come to room 133 for any lunch during 6th period. Sign up using the QR code on the flyers in your math class or around the school. 

Central's Hispanic Club for Leadership and Awareness is meeting today in Mrs. Kime's room (across for the library). If you have Hispanic heritage, or would like to support our Hispanic community, stop by to learn more about the organization. Hispanic desserts will be served. 

ALL CURRENT JUNIOR BETA MEMBERS: Today's meeting will be via Zoom. Please check the Junior Beta Teams page for a Zoom link. We are not meeting in the auditorium today. If you aren't in Junior Beta yet but are interested, please check out the Central Jr. Beta webpage for instructions on how to get invited!  

College Corner has begun! It will be every Tuesday during C/D lunches (12:30-1:30). Montevallo visited this week. As of now, we do not have any colleges signed up for the next two Tuesdays, but keep checking the school calendar as that could change at any time. Starting in Sept. we have lots of great colleges coming to visit, so stop by to see them! 

High School Students - Friday, August 18 we begin signing up for the PSAT Test!  The test will be given during the school day on Wednesday, October 11. The cost to sign up is $18 and you can pay in attendance. You may also pay online but there will be a service charge bringing your cost to $19.  You may sign up from August 18-September 1. If you have any questions about the PSAT, see your guidance counselor, attendance, or Mrs. Huffman. 

The counselors will begin senior meetings today.  Students come to Guidance at the time of your appointment. 

7th grade Immunization deadline is Tuesday, August 22nd. If you have not provided proof that you have received the required Tdap vaccine by the 22nd, you will not be allowed to return to school until you do so. Those students whose records that we do not have, Nurse Anderson emailed your parent on Friday the 11th. If you have any questions, please email Nurse Anderson or stop by the clinic. 

Attention on middle school students! Audition packets for Frozen Jr are now available! You can find the packets on Mrs. Sweet or Mr. Germany's websites. All information you need to know about what to prepare and expect for the audition and rehearsal process is in this packet. There are also audition songs provided. Print outs of audition forms and song cuts can also be found outside Mrs. Sweet's room. Any students interested in a breakdown of the packet, please go to Mrs. Sweet's room, Annex room 344, at the beginning of CT on Monday, August 21st. Please make sure to check in with your CT teacher before heading to the meeting. Auditions will be August 30 with callbacks on August 31st.   

Seniors, the Dollywood field trip is September 22. Please get permission forms from your English Teacher. The notarized form and your money is due to Dr. Guthrie no later than September 13th.  

Do you enjoy competitive swimming? The Central Magnet Swim team might be the sport for you! Coach O'Hara will host an informational meeting about the upcoming season via Zoom on Tuesday, August 22 at 7 pm. Sign-ups and the Zoom link can be found on the CMS Swim website.  

All middle school baseball players are to see Coach Summar and Coach Zack on Tuesday this week during lunch period A and B for sizing for caps and uniforms. The coaches will be setup in the cafeteria during both A and B lunch periods. 

CMS Family: The High School Cross Country Team is hosting a yard sale this Saturday, August 26th, from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. here at the Central Magnet School! We would love to see you all come out to support the cross country team and shop 'til you drop! If you have any questions, please reach out to Coach Windham or Mrs. Nau. We look forward to seeing you this Saturday morning!  

Congratulations to the Central Magnet HS Cross Country team for an incredible showing at the Chick-Fil-A Saturday Light Fever meet this past Saturday! The girls placed 2nd overall in the Varsity Girls Silver Division. Catherine Zubkus came in 3rd place overall with a 5K time of 21:01. Emily Bush, Anna Niedzielski, Zayleigh Anderson, and Ashtyn Patterson then rounded out our top 5 girl runners for CMS. Ty Brown came in 3rd place overall for the boys with a 5K time of 15:59. In the Varsity Boys Gold Division, our top 5 CMS boys were Ty Brown, Vinny Peck, Henry Nance, Harrison Hamby, and Edan Pingitore. Our top 5 CMS boys in the JV Gold division were Blake Nutter, Gavin Mercado, Dexter Trageser, Alberto Vargas, and Ben Hogan. It was a great night to be a Tiger!  

The high school volleyball team dropped a hard fault match to Saint Cecilia Academy on Friday night. Noella obi lead the way with eight kills three service, aces and three blocks. Maddie Porter had assists and eight digs. The Tigers return to action tonight at Lipscomb Academy for a JV varsity doubleheader before returning home on Tuesday with a match against district opponent Giles County. 

Congratulations to the middle school varsity volleyball team on a win against Thurman Francis last Friday. The team won in two sets, scoring 25-11 in both. Norah Clancy secured the win in the first match with 9 aces and 1 kill. The team plays again tonight at home. All students get in for free, so come on out and support your middle school lady tigers.
