Peer tutoring now open for business!!  Math tutors are available on Wednesday mornings from 7:15-7:45 and after school 3:15-4:00 in room 100 ( Ms. Smithson's room)  

All grades welcome to come get help with their math homework or prepare for a test! 

Are you a high school student who enjoys poetry and creative writing? Come to the open mic to hear our current TN Youth Poet Laureate. Participate in the writing workshop in the library during CT on Wednesday, September 20 to share your writing in a judgement-free environment and develop your writing with mentors from Southern Word. Look for posters in your English class with QR codes. Use the QR codes to let us know you are coming. 

This week's sixth grader of the week is Raymond Ellam. Raymond is very responsible and is also a strong writer. He submits all of his work on time and actively participates in class. Way to go, Raymond!

HS Beta new member applications are due TODAY!  For current members, this month's service opportunity is posted on the club website.  Questions? See Dr. Roland or any officer. 

Rho Kappa, the Honor Society for Social Studies, is now accepting applications to become a member during the 2023-24 school year. Prospective members must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA and have taken two AP Social Studies courses. Along with the application, perspective members must submit recommendations and their transcript.  Applications can be found on Mr. Eldridge’s school website. Deadline is September 15th.  

The Black Student Union @ CMS is an organization with the goal of creating opportunities and encouraging support for our students.  If you are interested in joining this organization and playing a role in welcoming diversity in our school, please go to the BSU club page and complete the form that is linked there.  Join the REMIND group and stay informed about upcoming meetings and events. 

High school students, are you interested in a career in the Architecture, Construction Management, and Engineering fields? Then ACE Mentoring club is for you.  Students will be introduced industry mentors, to colleges with programs in these related fields and will work on a design project as an actual design team. The first ACE Club meeting will take place on Wednesday, September 20th from 3:30 to 5 pm in room 128.  Please see the ACE Club website or Mr. Bonanno for additional information and questions. 

Attention Middle School Student council applicants: All 4 application items are due TODAY by 3 pm. Bring your poster to Mrs. Phillips in room 230.  See the student council website or email Mrs. Phillips with any questions.  

Attention National English Honor Society Members: We will be holding our first meeting of the year during D club rotation today. We will meet in room 104 (Mrs. Eubanks's room). Your attendance is expected.  

Have you heard about The Design Club?  Design Club's purpose is to gather anyone experienced or interested in design and give them a place to put their ideas into action. We want to help with the school's design needs and give students the opportunity to show off their creativity. If you are interested in designing  posters, t-shirts, flyers, or any other design that a Central Magnet affiliated organization may need, we are the club for you. Please note that we meet in room 133 this week's club rotation. 

High School Students:  Payment for AP exams begins Sept 12 and ends Oct 31.  Check your email for the details. 

For anyone that is interested in participating on the MS and HS archery teams this year, there will be a parent meeting on Monday, September 18th at 5:30 pm in the main cafeteria.  Signup, practice and tournament information will be provided at the meeting.  Please see the Archery website or Coach Bonanno with any questions. 

We will sell Smoothies at all four lunches on Friday.  We will have Lemon Twist Strawberry, Angel Food, and Strawberry Kiwi.  Bring $6 and support your HS cheer squad. 

Congratulations to the MS volleyball team for their 5th district win on Wednesday night against Rocky Fork. The team scored 25-10 in the first set and 25-9 in the second set. Emery Bland had 3 kills and 6 aces, Lily Stuible and Laney Hatfield both had one kill and 3 aces. Kait Friedenreich scored the winning point in the second set on an ace. 

The middle school lady tigers only have 3 more home games next week on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Tuesday will be 8th grade night, so come out and support your middle school volleyball team. 

The middle school tennis team picked up another pair of wins against a well matched MTCS yesterday, with 2 matches ending at 7 to 9, and another going to a tie break. Their next match is Tuesday at 4pm. 

The high school volleyball team defeated Cascade last night 3-1 to remain undefeated in district play. Noella Obi again led the way with 30 kills, 4 digs, and 3 blocks.  Grace Martindale had 12 digs, 10 aces and an assist. Maddie Porter had 22 assists, 8 kills and 7 digs.  The Tigers travel to Franklin this weekend for the Border Battle tournament.

Several close looks that could have been goals with an aggressive back line defense. Great midfield control, winning more than half of the 50/50’s.  Defensive shout outs to Sarah Zaza, Laila Warren and Abigail Woods.

Extremely well-played game up top and in the middle, winning the majority of the 50/50’s. Amelia Bogle wins the battle award for never giving up on moving the ball toward the goal. Defensive middle and back line did an amazing job with a shout out for excellence to Carly Delaney. Ella Agee bounced back from an extremely rough first game, recomposed herself and made 7 amazing stops as keeper.
