Come and join the CMS Choir for our Middle School Concert ""From Beatles to Billie: A Pop Music Concert"" on Tuesday, March 19th at 6:30pm and our High School Concert ""Opening Up!: Songs of Stage and Screen"" on Thursday, March 21st at 7:00pm.

Middle School Choir students will be singing pop music from The Beatles, Billie Eilish, and Marvin Gaye along with student soloists.

High School Choir students will be singing songs from movies and musicals along with student soloists.

We have two winners who answered trivia questions at the book fair who will win a full archery set! Blake Long and Jessica Bonham, please come by the library today to claim your prize! Thanks to everyone who came out to support the book fair last week!

The results of the Rutherford County All-Star Beginning Band are in! CMS had 15 Beginning Band students selected for this highest honor!

High School is playing Capture the Flag for the Spring Spirit Day activity. Teams are formed with 5 boys and 5 girls from each grade. IF there is enough interest, we will have 2 teams per grade. If you want to be on a team, see your class representative, the student council website, or Mrs. SK in room 116 for a permission form. Forms need to be turned in AS A TEAM by Thursday, March 21st to your class rep. or Mrs. SK.

Anime Club is excited to announce its first Naruto Run Race on the day of Pig Out. There will be one race for 6-8th graders and one for 9-12th graders. The deadline to turn in money and permission forms has been extended to the day of Pig Out. Students, the cost to compete is $2 for the chance to win a $20 Amazon gift card or anime loot for 2nd and 3rd place runners. So get a big group together and race with your friends. Please stop by Ms. Andrews's room (Rm 114) to pick up a permission form.

HOSA members who are attending the state convention trip to Chattanooga over spring break, please turn in all travel forms to Mrs. Harrison in room 348 by the end of the day today.

You will also have a meeting during C lunch in Mrs. Harrison's room tomorrow, March 20th. Please see Teams for more details.

Prom tickets MUST be purchased this week. They are $70 each and will be on sale through GoFan or in the cafeteria during C and D lunches this week. The LAST DAY to purchase a ticket will be Thursday. If you purchase on GoFan, you must pick up a physical ticket in the cafeteria. Please don't miss out!

This is the last week to get a t-shirt with your After Prom ticket. Register ahead of time, then stop by the Cafeteria tomorrow or on Spirit Day during C & D lunch to get your ticket. Go to this QR code to register.

Attention students:  We will be opening concessions Tuesday 3/19 and Thursday 3/21 for everyone.  Plan now!  Lots of sodas, hot dogs, nachos, pretzels, and candy to sell!

College Corner will host Ms. Freida Coldwell from the Chamber of Commerce during C/D lunch. Stop by and visit her!

Attention All Students:    We will have Reading Rooms available during Friday’s Spirit Day activities for students who prefer to spend their day in a quieter atmosphere, away from the noise and crowds.  To be in a Reading Room, just sign up in advance in Flex.  If you need help securing a pass, see Ms. Dixon. Keep in mind that with the exception of going to the restroom, students who sign up for a Reading Room are to remain there until the next activity.

There is an interest meeting for HS cheer on Tuesday, March 19th at 7 pm in the senior cafeteria.  The interested athlete and 1 parent must attend the interest meeting to try out. 

HS Cheer will sell smoothies at lunch on Friday.

Congrats to the high school track team for a fantastic first track meet of the season! More than 40 athletes earned PR's in their events! Garrett Florida, Amaya Warren, Catherine Zubkus, Ty Brown, and Keira Waldron all placed in the TN top 25 in their events. Ty Brown placed 4th in the boys' 3200-meter run, Keira Waldron placed 4th in the girls' 100-meter hurdles, Kayla Markwei placed 5th in the girls' discus throw, and Vinny Peck placed 5th in the 800-meter run. Go Tigers!

CMS Tigers continued sweeping the course with their RC opponents.  Yesterday, the Tigers defeated Smyrna (again) and Oakland.  As always, JianJian Gao and Justin Grissom were the individual winners.

The Central Tigers High School Baseball team went 3-0 over the weekend in the Strike Out Cancer tournament in the Smoky Mountains.

 

In game1-the Tigers defeated the 8th ranked team in the state- McMinn Central 5-2. Collin Wind struck out 14 in five innings of work to pick up the win. John Cook picked up the save.

In game 2- the Tigers defeated Karns 3-1. Jake Maddox threw 6 terrific innings to pick up the win. Jake Maddox hammered a 2 run homer in the first. John Cook again came in to pick up the save.

In Game 3- the Tigers defeated the number one team and defending State Champion Greeneville by a score of 9-4. Mitchell Coons had 3 hits to lead the offense. Dawson McCrary had a couple big hits. Nathan Stewart struck out 7 to get the win.

Last night, the Tigers avenged their only loss of season with a 14-9 win over Shelbyville. Jake Maddox had 4 hits; John Cook added 3 hits. Carter Long and Nathan Stewart both had 2 hits. Jon Mical Courtney got his first high school win by throwing a shut out inning.

The Tigers are now 4-1 on the season

Tiger tennis co-hosted South Warren from Bowling Green Kentucky on Saturday.  The boys team won 7 to 2 with the girls falling 3 to 6 to a competitive team.

 

 Both teams won decisively against Lipscomb Academy yesterday.  They have a match today against Christ presbyterian Academy and the girl's varsity and JV take on Hareth Hall on Wednesday.

The middle school baseball Tigers drop to 4 and 1 on the season losing to Siegel middle 10 to 7.

Kason Puffer lead the Tigers going 2 for 4 with 3RBI, Elijah Bonner, Braylon Dowell and Brayden Yates chipped in with 1 hit a piece.

Congratulations to archers from both our archery teams the Tennessee State Archery tournament as the MS team placed 8th out of 29 schools and the HS team placed 1st out 20 schools in the bullseye tournament.  This is the HS’s 3rd State Title and first since going back to back in 2016 and 2017. Individually in the bullseye tournament, Ev Phillips was the 6th place HS Female, Jess Blunkall was the 2nd place HS Female, and Jackson Harris was the 5th place HS Male.  Owen Taylor was the MS Male State Bullseye Champion with his 1st place score of 291 out of 300.  In the 3D tournament, the MS team place 6th and the HS team placed 3rd.  Individually, Havilynn Burton was the 4th place MS Female, Jess Blunkall was the 4th place HS Female, Ava Edwards was the 2nd place HS Female and Jackson Harris was the 4th place HS Male. Owen Taylor was the MS Male State 3D Champion with his 1st place score of 282 out of 300.  All of the above individuals have qualified for the National Tournaments in May.

The high school soccer team host Page HS tonight at Richard Siegel park in the stadium.  JV kicks off at 5pm with Varsity to follow at 7 pm.  Remember Central students get in free.

Congratulations to sophomore Elsa Spraggins! She has been nominated for the Mary Catherine Strobel award for community service, which is sponsored by Hands On Nashville.
