The CMS Chess Team will have an interest meeting and open chess games Monday August 12th from 3:15 to 5:15 in room 132. The team is open to middle and high school students interested in both playing and improving their chess game. Very Important, be sure to tell your parents to come at 4:30 pm that day for a parent informational meeting as well.
The Department of Mathematical Science of MTSU will host a public lecture of Dr. Po-Shen Loh tonight at 7 PM in room 1006 of the Science Building. Dr. Loh is a mathematician of Carnegie Mellon University. His talk will focus on mathematics, Artificial Intelligence and education, guiding students on how to dramatically adjust educational approaches in the era of artificial intelligence.
The Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society is currently accepting applications for the 2024-25 school year. Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA and two AP Social Studies courses. Applications can be found on Mr. Eldridge's website under the Rho Kappa tab. Applications will be accepted until 8/23 and dropped off in room 115.

If you would like to join the Central bowling team, tryouts will be held at Lanes, Trains, and Automobiles on August 20 at 4:00 p.m. You must be compliant with Final Forms before trying out. Email Coach Snow and/or visit room 205 for additional information.
HS Cheer will have a fall tryout on August 28th from 3:15-3:45. Fall tryouts are open to athletes who were not Central Students in April of 2024 or athletes who were otherwise ineligible to try out in April of 2024. If you want to try out, please stop by Coach Griggs’s classroom (room 335) for information and paperwork by August 23rd.
The High School Golf team's season has been underway since mid-July. The girls finished 3rd in the highly competitive Battle at the Hermitage with Anna Powell firing a 76 and Lauren Powell a 79. Last week the regular season began with a win for both the boys and girls teams over Smyrna. The Tigers look to pick up more wins versus Blackman on Tuesday.
