We want to congratulate Ethan Rushton for earning the prestigious Eagle Scout Award. Ethan is a member of Boy Scout Troop 106. For his community service project, Ethan built the new benches that have been placed in the courtyard along with new raised bed boxes for flowers outside of room 134. Thank you, Ethan, for the additions to our campus and congratulations on reaching this significant milestone.
The TableTop Board Game Club will have its first meeting of the year Thursday August the 22nd. It is open to middle and high school students, and meets in the Senior Cafeteria after school until 4:30pm. Please be sure to have your parents opt you in before attending. We will meet in the upstairs faculty lounge for their first meeting this Thursday, not in the senior cafeteria.
The Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society is currently accepting applications for the 2024-25 school year. Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA and two AP Social Studies courses. Applications can be found on Mr. Eldridge's website under the Rho Kappa tab. Applications will be accepted until 8/23 and dropped off in room 115.
Hola! National Spanish Honor Society is now accepting application for the new year. You must be in Spanish 3 or higher, or your 5th semester of Spanish. Applications can be found on the club page. All forms and club dues need to be completed and brought to the first meeting on Wednesday, August 28th. Please see Sra. Kime or Sra. Pinson with any questions.
The interest meeting for middle school student council is next Monday during C club rotation in Mrs. Phillips’s room. This meeting is mandatory. If you will be absent & unable to attend, email Mrs. Phillips.
College Corner has a great line-up this week! On Tuesday, August 20 during C and D lunches Vanderbilt, University of Alabama, and MTSU will all be in attendance. Stop by and see them to pick up some information (and freebies)
PSAT- 9th, 10th and 11th graders can register to take the PSAT now thru August 26th. The cost is $18.00. You can register and pay (cash or check) in the attendance office. School cash online is also available if you would like to pay with a credit/debit card (link was provided on the previous email). The PSAT is scheduled for October 23rd.
HS Cheer will have a fall tryout on August 28th from 3:15-3:45. Fall tryouts are open to athletes who were not Central Students in April of 2024 or athletes who were otherwise ineligible to try out in April of 2024. If you want to try out, please stop by Coach Griggs’s classroom (room 335) for information and paperwork by August 23rd.

The high school volleyball team dropped their season opener to a gritty Rockvale squad on Monday night. The Tigers lost three sets to two. Junior Maddie Porter lead the way with 17 assists, 13 digs, 6 aces and 4 kills. Freshman Emery Bland had 16 kills and 3 digs. Senior Becca Jerkins chipped in 11 assists and 5 digs. They return to action tonight with a road trip to Webb School in Bell Buckle.
