Last week, the girls golf team fought hard for a state championship. The Lady Tigers were tied with Page High School after 36 holes of golf at the TSSAA State Tournament in Sevierville. Central Magnet came up a stroke short in the playoff with a runner-up finish for the three sophomore golfers, Anna Powell, Lauren Powell, and Emery Mitchell. Lauren shot a two-day total of nine over par 149. Emery shot a 77 on the first day and Anna shot 75 the second round. The girls will be back next year to accomplish their goal of winning a state championship.
The CMS high school cross country team competed at the Jesse Owens Classic meet in Oakville, Alabama, over Fall Break. The boys' varsity team—Ty Brown, Blake Nutter, Henry Nance, Carson Phillips, Aaden Walker, Harrison Hamby, and Nate Dyer—broke our school record at this 5K meet! Their average time was 16 minutes 39 seconds! Ben Hogan and Jaden Yoder were in the top 50 in their red division race. Our girls also faced a lot of tough competition and demonstrated a commendable performance.  Way to go, Tigers!
Congratulations to our middle school cross-country teams who competed in the TMSAA state championship on October 5th in Clarksville. The girls' team captured 3rd place. Team members are Adelyn King, Allie Mathews, Harper Patterson, Elizabeth Hamilton, Maddy Strickland, Darcy Thomas, and Amelia Bogle. They ended a great season with a top-notch effort, including Adelyn and Elizabeth both running a 14:01. Way to go ladies!
The boys' team had much to prove, hoping to capture a state title for the third year in a row. And would you believe?... They did it! And in a very emphatic fashion. The boys' team beat 15 other schools, with the closest scorer being 84 points behind us. Team members are Karter Brinkley, Joe Pinson, Miles Pinson, Miles Rafacz, Max Metzger, Philip Smith, and Lucas Ye. Philip had the honor of receiving an individual medal by placing fourth overall with an 11:50. Way to go Tigers! We are proud of your hard work and months of training that it took to earn this accomplishment!

Central Magnet will be hosting the 2024 Region IV Tournament on Tuesday afternoon/evening. Your Tigers will play the first semifinal match at 4:30 for a chance to play in the championship match at 7:30. We need to take advantage of hosting and create a true home court advantage. Make plans to come out and support tomorrow evening.
CMS Trap competed in the AIM  Trap tournament on October 5th.  This tournament was held during fall break and owing to absences and injuries, CMS Trap was only able to field a squad of 4, rather than the usual 5.  This  squad did not disappoint, and against all odds it won its Division.  Special recognition goes to Beck Stanley, who scored a 98 out of 100 to lead the team and take an individual win for his division.  His score of 98 was the second highest for the entire tournament.
