In 1987, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed a national Geography Awareness Week, which is now celebrated annually on the third week in November. You can read his full proclamation on Coach Clay Burns' webpage. You can also go there to learn each day's theme. There are links to resources for teachers, students, and anyone interested in geography. GIS Day will be on Wednesday, November 20, and the Intro to GIS students will be presenting their GIS for Good projects in class and online. Teachers and staff are welcome to attend the presentations in room 210 during 1st period, and students can check out their StoryMaps on the Central Magnet GIS hubsite.

DECA members will be selling World's Finest Chocolate bars for $1.00 on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 through Friday, November 22, 2024. Almond, dark/milk chocolate, caramel, crisp and wafer will be the featured selections. Ms. Crawley-Harrison will have candy for sale in Room 210 as well.
Attention ALL HOSA members... today's G club HOSA meeting is cancelled. However, if you are testing for the HOSA regional competition this week, then you are to meet during our club time in room 348, Mrs. Harrison's room. This is mandatory for regional competition testing members.
All other HOSA members will not meet. There is not a general HOSA meeting today...please make other plans for this club time.
The middle school track and field team will begin the season with a parent meeting on Wednesday, November 20th at 6pm in the senior cafeteria. Parents should enter on the middle school drop-off side. See Coach J. Burns in room 132 for information.
There will be an informational meeting for those interested in high school tennis this Thursday, November 21 at 6pm in the senior cafeteria. Please enter through the college corner entrance.
HS Cheer is selling sweatshirts and T-shirts with “Tigers” in Vandy gold on a pennant flag. These can be worn at all school events because they aren’t affiliated with any team. They will be delivered before Christmas. You may purchase them on School cash online, from a High School cheerleader, or grab an order form from Mrs. Griggs in room 335 by December 6th.
Congratulations to our CMS Archers that participated in the tournament this past weekend. Individually in the Bullseye tournament, Luciana Spivey-Palacios placed 5th in the MS Female Division, Patricia Le placed 3rd in the HS Female Division. In the 3D Tournament, Ev Phillips placed 3rd in the HS Female Division and Preston Sanders placed 5th in the HS Male Division.
Arjun Sood, Veer and Neel Kodali, Lukas Duchacek and JB Roach are the TMSAA state middle school tennis champions, defeating teams from all over Tennessee. Central had boys and girls teams representing at this weekend's tournament. Congratulations on their performances!
Are you interested in auditioning for this year's variety show? Any middle or high school student who would like to submit an audition recording should go follow the link on the Student Council webpage to get to the Padlets for submissions. There are separate Padlets for middle and high schoolers, and all students will need to make sure to fill out the linked Microsoft Form to finish their submission.
