Juniors will be taking the ACT at Central on Tuesday, March 11th. With parent permission, students may leave school upon completion. Your English class will be handing out the permission forms and they will be available in attendance. Please turn these in to attendance by Monday, March 10th. We will not be accepting phone calls, texts and emails the day of the test.
Rising Juniors and Seniors -- Don't forget that this Friday at 3 PM is the deadline to apply for National English Honor Society for next year. The application is completely digital, but it will close at 3 PM. You can get to the application through the NEHS website on the Central website or by scanning the QR code in your English classes. Please see Mrs. Eubanks with any questions. Late applications will not be accepted.
Middle Schoolers: Today is the last day to vote for your spring dress-up days. Scan the QR code on the flyers around the school or go to the middle school student council website.

Tom Holland is coming to our school. (pause for dramatic effect) Oh, sorry! I mean that Dr. Tom Holland from the MTSU Forensic Department is coming to our school this Wednesday, not Spiderman. The Forensic Science Club and SNHS will be hosting him in the senior cafeteria from 3:15 to 4:00. He will likely be discussing the recovery and identification of war casualties. There might be snacks.

Rising 7th and 8th graders interested in trying out for Middle School Cheer next season, please stop by room 225, to pick up an interest packet. Candidates and a parent need to attend the meeting March 20th at 630 in the Senior cafeteria. Go Tigers!
The Central Magnet JV baseball team beat Lawson 5-0 on Friday. Joseph Rowell and Garrett Dodson combined to throw a perfect game. Rowell struck out 8 in 3 2/3 innings. The Tigers had big hits from Henry Long, John Gamble, Carter Shelton, Tristram Carey, and Brady Moore.
The Central Magnet varsity baseball team defeated Lawson 14-3. Mitchell Coons had a huge night with 3 hits; 2 doubles; and 7 rbi. Thomas Sesler had two big hits. Braylon Dowell reached base 4 times and scored 3 runs as the leadoff hitter. Collin Wind was the winning pitcher striking out 4 in 3 innings. Tate Morris threw 2 shutout innings in relief. Carter Shelton and Jon-Mical Courtney pitched the final frame. The Tigers travel to Shelbyville today for a 5:30 game.
The track team had its first meet on Saturday at Wilson Central High in Lebanon.
Kayla Markwei set a new school record in the Discus with a throw of 89 feet 10 inches. She tied the first place throw but placed second overall. Kayla also finished in 5th place in the Shot put.
Other notable accomplishments: Cadence Upham placed 7th overall in the Discus out of 40 competitors. Henry Nance placed 8th in the 800 meters out of 78 runners. Hudson Bock finished first in his heat in the 800. Nate Dyer and Harrison Hamby finished 10th and 11th in the 1600 meters out of 74 runners. The boys Distance Medley A- Relay of Aaden Walker, Henry Nance, Owen Butler, and Nate Dyer finished in 4th place and Distance Medley B-Relay of Luca Guevart, Jason Dyer, Sawyer Evans, and Ben Luther finished in 9th out of 22 relay teams. Keira Waldron finished 9th in the 300 hurdles out of 32 runners. The next track meet is Saturday at Seigel.
The high school softball team opened their new field at Buchanan on Friday night with a thrilling 8-7 win over Cannon County. Sohia Croasdaile was 3 for 3 at the dish with an RBI, 2 runs and a triple. Megan Weber was 2/3 with a double and a stellar performance in centerfield. Senior Charly Thompson delivered a timely hit and drove in 2 big runs early in the game. Freshman pitcher Charlee Denney picked up her first career win coming in in relief.
Thank you to everyone who came out and supported the evening and enjoyed the festivities. Make plans to come out Wednesday and Thursday as the lady tigers return home for games with Lavergne and Franklin County.
