The Central Varsity Middle School Boys soccer team defeated Christiana Varsity 2-1 in the First Round of the Rutherford County Middle School Tournament. Lucas Ye and Colt Miller scored goals for the Tigers. Central plays at Smyrna Middle in the Second Round.
The Central Tiger baseball team continued on their torrid streak remaining one of the hottest teams in the State. The Tigers scored 13 runs on 13 hits to pick up their 18th win of the season. Elijah Bonner was the winning pitcher throwing four strong innings only allowing one hit. The freshman was strong on the mound, but his real damage was done at the plate going 2 for 4 with a ringing double off the wall and blasting a 3-run homer over the right field boards. Mitchell Coons, Benson Reavis, and Henry Long all had two hits. Jon Mical Courtney had a pinch hit 2 run double to end the game. Also, on a side note- on Wednesday the Tigers had jumped on Eagleville for 3 quick runs including a 2 run homer from Mitchell Coons on senior day. Even though the rain would wash away the blast it didn’t change the fact that it was a dramatic moment. The Tigers are back in action today versus an old school original district opponent Dekalb County at 6:00.
The high school softball team had a busy week, (and Coach Stearns forgot to enter the announcements) going 3-0 with wins over Battle Creek, the Nashville Knights, and Webb School. The Lady Tigers outscored their opponents by a whopping 38-6. The offense was led by Charlee Thompson and Hayley Mangrum who each picked up 4 hits. Sophia Croasdaile picked up 5 RBI. Croasdaile scored 7 times and Elle Cumming scored 6. The team will return to action Monday night at home for our Senior Night. The Senior Night festivities will begin at 5:00.
