The Tiger baseball team started the District 8AAA tournament on the road against Lawrence County. A team who swept the Tigers early in the season. But these Tigers showed quickly how much they have grown this season by putting up 3 runs in the top of the first. All courtesy of Henry Long’s bases clearing double. Lawrence County answered with 2 on a homer by Tennessee signee Alex Bedford. The Tigers would answer with 3 more runs in the top of the second. Lawrence County would eventually come back and take a 7-6 lead in the 5th. But these Tigers would rally in the 6th. A Clutch lead off pinch hit by Thomas Sesler started the rally. Braylon Dowell’s rbi double would tie it. John Roth would give the Tigers the lead with a bases loaded hit to make it 9-7 Tigers. That would be the final score as Collin Wind pitched the 7th to save it for Tate Morris who picked up the win going 6 gritty innings. Joseph Rowell was 4 for 4 and scored 3 runs and stole 3 bases. Benson Reavis had two hits on the night. The Tigers now receive a bye and will play Saturday at 1:00 in Tullahoma.
The high school softball team traveled to Tullahoma on Thursday night for their District Tournament Opener.
