RunJonahRun is a local 5K race. The proceeds benefit the Pulmonary Hypertension Association and the treatment and research of pediatric pulmonary hypertension.
I am reaching out to you to see if any of your students would be willing to volunteer at the race to receive volunteer hours. The race takes place November 11, 2017 in the back parking lot of Blackman High School. If this is something your school would consider, please forward my information to any student willing to volunteer. The hours would be 5:30 AM - 9:30 AM. I would discuss specifics with each volunteer.
I hope we can join together to fight this rare disease that took my son, Jonah, at the age of ten. I look forward to hearing from you.
College Corner will host Nossi College of Art and Samford on Tuesday this week.
Spirit Week is next week! We will kick things off with tailgating this Thursday for Soccer and Volleyball Senior Nights. Next week we will have dress up days throughout the week and Spirit Day on Friday. Part of that spirit day will be Pig Out, so make sure to bring money if you want to purchase food from the vendors. The Middle Schools girls soccer team played this weekend and won second place in the JV Tournament at Stewarts Creek. They lost to Stewarts Creek in the first round, but defeated Rockvale in the second round 2 to 0. Clara Ambrose and Emme Lynn each scored a goal while Mikayla Harris had 2 saves and Maddie Degnan had 3 saves.
The next game is today at Whitworth Buchanan. Game time is 4:a5.
The middle school cross-country team competed in the Milton Invitational on Saturday. Here are the results of the four races:
- Girls Varsity - 1st place
- Boys Varsity - 2nd place
- Girls JV - 3rd
- Boys JV - 1st
Top finishers for the Tigers in each race respectively were:
- Samantha Ouellette and Mikayla Morrell
- Ian Callender and Tony Peck
- Amelia Worseley and Tegan Waugh
- Elijah Fearns and Logan Kelley
The team competes this Saturday at Riverdale HS to capture a spot at the state championships in October.
Congratulations to the boys and girls high school cross country teams for an outstanding showing at the Trinity/Valkyrie Invitational in Louisville this past weekend. Varsity girls finished 6th in their division and varsity boys were 8th. The boys were paced by sophomore Fuji Anday with a time of 16:56 while the girls were led by senior Camille Smith in a time of 19:18, finishing third overall. The JV boys team captured 5th place. The Trinity/Valkyrie Invitational is a nationally renowned running event so this showing for your Tiger squads is to be commended. Your Tiger striders return to action over fall break.
