*ATTENTION ALL 9TH-11TH GRADERS!!!! CMS and EF Tours will be offering a college and university tour to Boston and New York showcasing both on and off campus life in these two iconic cities! There will be an interest meeting on Monday, Nov. 13th at 5:30 in the auditorium.Please join us to learn more about this exciting trip that will take place Fall Break 2018.

 

*Seniors!  This Friday, November 17th is the deadline for purchasing a "Baby Ad" in the yearbook. This is a hard deadline because these pages need to be submitted to Jostens for production purposes. The price ranges from $50 to $300.Purchasing an ad not only creates a lasting memory but helps to drive down the cost of the book to make it more affordable for everyone at the school.  Thank you for supporting your CMS yearbook.

 

*The middle school and high school swim teams are having a team fundraiser event at Chipotle THIS Thursday. Everyone is invited to come out for a meal at Chipotle THIS Thursday night, any time between 4:00 and 8:00pm! We hope to see you there!

 

*Congratulations to the Middle School Boy's Basketball team on defeating PCA 55 to 28.  Carrington Allen lead all scorers with 27 and will Harris added 12.

 

*The middle school swim team competed in their first meet this past weekend. The boys and girls' teams came in 2nd place overall out of 7 teams.  Congratulations to the following swimmers who qualified for Regions in at least one of their individual events:  Taylor Walker, Douglas Thibodeaux, David Moreno, Kaitlyn Elliott, Abby Higgins, Matthew Moore, Jonathan Sanders, Cameron Walker, Lilly Ann Brown, and Caden Sweetman.

 

*Cake Decorating members staying after school Friday, Nov. 17, must sign up on the club's website in order to attend. See Ms. Davis if you have any questions.

 

*CMS archers had an amazing showing on Saturday at the Swarm the Hive Tournament.  Central Magnet took the top Male and Female spots in both the MS and HS divisions, including a sweep of all five MS Female places.  Jake Harris placed 4th and Connor Smathers placed 1st in the HS Male division and Kayleigh Corban and Alison Blanton finished in 1st and 2nd place in the HS Female division.  In the MS Male division, Blake Spencer placed 3rd and Dominic Swader placed 1st.  Finally, CMS MS Females swept the division awards with Journie Bobo placing 5th, Allie Dabney placing 4th, Makayla Harris placing 3rd, Isabella Hire placing 2nd, and Grace Towle taking the top spot.  Our next tournament will be in the Shootout at the Rock Tournament on Saturday, November 2nd at Rockvale Elementary School.

 

*In 1987, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed the third week of November "Geography Awareness Week." Coach Burns will use "GeoWeek" to kick off the 2018 National Geographic Bee here at Central. This Thursday, during your 5th period study hall, all middle school students will have the opportunity to take the online qualifying quiz on your own device. A computer lab will also be available, if needed. You will sign in with your Office365 username and password, so make sure you know what it is before Thursday. Only middle school students interested in competing in the 2018 National Geographic Bee should take the quiz. You can find more information about the GeoBee at Coach Burns' website.

 

*Governor's School applications are due to the counselors by Wednesday, Nov 15th at 3:00.
