*This weekend several 11th-12 Grade Central Magnet Middle School Band Students were selected to the Mid-State Band!  Congratulations to: Chelsey Zhu, Aalia Hanif, Daniel Wendt, Nikki Horton, Josh Narrell, Chaffee Elam, Grant Skinner, Ana Klukowski, Stephanie Hensley, & Ryan Gagnon.

ADDITIONALLY: Several students were also selected to All-State, ranking them the best musicians in the state of Tennessee. Congratulations to Ana Klukowski, Aalia Hanif, Chelsey Zhu & Chaffee Elam. With Ana Klukowski being selected to All-State on two instruments!

 

*Congratulations to the middle school swim team who won their swim meet this past weekend, in which they competed against 5 other Rutherford County teams. Many Central swimmers also qualified for Regions in their individual events.  Both the middle and high school swim teams will compete this Saturday in meets. Come out to support your swimming Tigers!

 

*All 11-12 grade String Orchestra students who competed this weekend have won the seats in the Mid State orchestra! Congratulations to:

Christopher DiVincenzo, Holly Thiemann, Amber Yun, Mamie Sevier, Madelyn Mansfield, Will Henderson, Caroline Ver Mulm, Adriana Calzavara, and Emily Jenkins.

Four of these students placed exceptionally high in their auditions, and earned places in All State Orchestra! Congratulations to Christopher DiVincenzo, Will Henderson, Adriana Calzavara on All State placement, and special shout out to Caroline Ver Mulm on All State placement as well as the 1st chair cello in the 2018 Mid State Orchestra!

 

*The CMS archery teams participated in the Shootout at the Rock Tournament on Saturday coming away with 1st place in the MS division and 2nd place in the HS division, just 4 points behind White County HS.  Grace Towle was the 1st place MS Female, Connor Smathers was the 1st place HS Male, Kayleigh Corban was the 2nd place HS Female and Alison Blanton was the 1st place HS Female.  Connor and Alison were the top scores for the tournament.  The archery teams will be back in action at the Pullin’ Strings at Rock Springs Tournament on January 13th.

 

*This past Saturday, Central Magnet hosted the Middle Tennessee Scholastic Chess Championship.

Our High School Chess Team - once again won the title of Middle Tennessee Champions!

Our very own Micah Warren earned top place as Individual Champion. 

Joshua Stueckle came in 2nd, Chandler McCook took 3rd place, followed by Joshua Guaz- 4th and Eli Barlar- 5th. Miguel Beristain- won a medal for 8th place. Faith Viers increased her national ranking significantly and high schoolers Jonathan Womble, Lizbeth Lozano, Edgar Lozano, Holly Guenther all played with honor.

Our Middle School Chess Team tied for 1st place with Timothy Raynor securing Top Unrated trophy, Gabe Redferin earning a medal, and Grayson Davis and Tyler Reynolds contributing to our Team's success.

Several of our 6th graders played well in the Unrated section since it was their first tournament experience - Talan Lynch, Cooper Olsen, Michael Payeur, Jackson Bolinger and Elijah Gasser.

Finally we need to recognize Central seniors Eric Ramsay who tied for 2nd place in the Open or Adult Section and Morgan Elrod-Erickson who worked as Assistant Tournament Director.

Congratulations Tigers for a job well done!

 

*The Preliminary Round of the National Geographic Bee will take place this Thursday, during 6th period, in Coach Burns' room 202. If you are one of the qualifiers, please go to room 202 immediately after checking in with your 6th period teacher. The list of qualifiers is on Coach Burns' National Geographic Bee website, where you will also find practice questions and study aides. Feel free to contact Coach Burns with any questions.

 

*Any HOSA competitor that has a knowledge test, testing will start today, Tuesday and Wednesday with makeup test on Friday.  See Mrs. Gates to sign up for a date.
