*The men's basketball team defeated Giles County on Friday night by a score of 54-46.

The Tigers we led in scoring by Will Carver with 31, Nick Hamlett with 13, and Steph Laird with 8 points.

The Tigers will host Forrest tomorrow night at 7:30 pm.

 

*The final round of the National Geographic Bee will be held this Wednesday, January 24, during 1st period in the auditorium. The ten finalists should report to the auditorium immediately after announcements.

 

*Attention Juniors and Seniors:

The National Honor Society meeting scheduled for this week will be an officers-only meeting. Officers will meet with Mr. Windham in his classroom during club time this week.

In addition, we are currently in the process of reviewing qualifications for new members.  Membership is available to only seniors and second semester juniors.  To become a member of National Honor Society, you must complete an application and submit to Mr. Windham by the specified deadline.  Applications will be personalized and delivered to students by the end of this week or the start of next week.  Should you have any questions, feel free to email Coach Nichols or Mr. Windham.

 

*Congratulations to both our teams this weekend for placing 1st in the Oakland at the Hive Tournament on Saturday.  Individually, Central had 7 archers placing in the top 5 in their divisions.  In the MS Female division,  Journie Bobo placed 5th and Isabella Hire placed 2nd.  In the MS Male division, Nathan Blunkall placed 4th and Dominic Swader placed 1st.  In the HS divisions, Alison Blanton was the 4th place Female, Jake Harris was the 3rd place Male and Connor Smathers was the 1st place Male.  The archery teams will shoot this Saturday in the Winter Shootout at Stewarts Creek MS at 5 and 6 pm.

 

*Congratulations to the High School Swim Team on winning 2nd place overall in the County Meet this past Saturday. Lots of swimmers medaled in their events and relays, including the following:

Kailey Orr won 1st place in the 200 FR and 1st place in the 100 BK

Marlee Bratsch won 3rd place in the 50 FR

Anna Weis won 1st place in the 100 FL and 3rd place in the 400 FR

Daniel Wendt won 3rd place in the 100 FR

Nick Gill won 2nd place in the 400 FR

Nick Gobich won 3rd place in the 400 FR

Morgan Ouellette won 3rd in the 100 BR

The girls' A-Team won 2nd place in both the Medley relay and the 400 FR relay.

The boys' A-Team won 2nd place in both the 200 FR relay and the 400 FR relay.

*Due to a faculty meeting, Girls Who Code will begin meeting again next week (January 29).  We will not meet today. 

Dress Up Days begin tomorrow with Holiday Day!  Remember that your outfit must be in dress code!

Tickets for the homecoming dance will be on sale during B, C, and D lunch on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door.  Seniors can attend free of charge.  The dance is from after the basketball game until 11:00 pm and is for high school students only. 

These swimmers will compete this Friday at the High School Region Meet in Nashville, so please wish them luck if you see them around school this week!

 

*Central Magnet fell to Giles County 55-34 on Friday night. Freshmen Caroline Dykes and Kathryn Hays each got 8 points to lead the Lady Tigers. They will be back in action against Forrest on Tuesday night.
