*Prom tickets go on sale next week!!!  Tickets are sold March 5th-16th during C & D lunches.  Tickets are $50 each.  If you are bringing a date who does not attend Central Magnet you MUST have your completed forms as well as a copy of your dates photo ID in order to purchase tickets.  If you have questions about purchasing tickets please see Mrs. Winton or Mrs. Morris.

 

*High School Students:  If you are going to take an AP exam you must complete the registration form and bring it to attendance with your payment.  The last day to order a test is March 16th.

 

*Any senior that is going to major in math at UTC, see your counselor about a scholarship opportunity.

 

*Seniors:  The Work Ethic Distinction from the Chamber of Commerce is due to the counselor’s March 15. You must submit all documentation with the application.

 

*Nissan is hosting a summer engineering camp.  The application is on the Guidance Summer opportunities web page.

 

*It’s not too late to sign up for the Fall Break College Tour to Boston and New York! EF travel group is currently running a $100 referral bonus! We will have a meeting on Monday, March 5 at 6:00 in the auditorium for anyone who is interested. See Guidance or the Guidance webpage for questions.

*The Middle School boys soccer team defeated Rock Springs 2 to 1.  Christian Scott and Jordan McGoffin each scored a goal while Charles Shambarger had an assist.  Will Palmer had 7 saves. 

The next game is Tuesday March 13th at LaVergne

 

*Mu Alpha Theta is sponsoring a contest involving reciting the digits of pi on Tuesday March 13th. There will be a cash prize for the person who can say the most digits of pi. Please stop by Mrs. Pigg's room before or after school or during C or D lunch to participate.

 

*Congratulations to our teams at the Blazen’ Arrows Tournament at Blackman HS.  The MS placed 3rd.  The HS tied White County HS but placed 2nd on the tie breaker.  Individually, the CMS archers that finished in the top 5 were Nathan Blunkall placing 4th and Blake Spencer placing 3rd in the MS Male division, Connor Smathers placing 3rd in the HS Male division, and Kayleigh Corban placing 3rd and Alison Blanton placing 1st in the HS Female division.  The archery teams will shoot in the County Championship this Saturday at WBMS.

 

*The Men's High School soccer team wrapped up preseason play Friday night with a 2-1 win over Shelbyville.  Jakada Jack scored both goals and Ethan Penny and Jorge Graniel each provided an assist.

The JV team went and played 3 varsity squads on Saturday and ended up placing second, losing to Dekalb Co's Varsity 2-1 in the final. Wills McAdams scored the lone goal of the final match.

The JV will play Siegel today at 5pm here at Central. It's Free to attend.

 

*Attention High School Students:

Central Magnet is rapidly gaining an impressive reputation at the Naval Academy's Candidate Guidance Office.  This Tuesday during club time we will welcome a former Navy Seal who will talk with our students who might be considering the Naval Academy as an option after graduation. All students are welcome, but juniors are especially encouraged if interested.  See Coach Nichols if you have any questions.

 

*Attention Seniors:

You will be meeting in the auditorium this Wednesday during Advisory to go over important details for what remains of your senior year.  You won't want to miss so please make a note in your schedule.  Get excited!

 

*Congratulations to Reuben Savage for representing Central at the Poetry Out Loud State competition. On Saturday, he was recognized as a Top Finalist out of 19 schools.

 

*Spring Pictures will be from 9 am to 11 am on Monday, March 19th in the gym for high school students and in the auditorium for middle school students.  See Mrs. Head's yearbook website for more specifics on the schedule and to select a customized backdrop.

 

*Campus School is looking for volunteers  for their Night of the Arts on April 12. If you are interested in volunteering for this event, contact Mrs. Ray or Mrs. Morris.  Their email addresses can be found on Mr. Nichols website under service opportunities.
