*The Spanish Department is having an Interest Meeting for their Serving-Learning Immersion trip to Costa Rica in 2019 this coming Monday, May 14th at 6pm in Mrs. Pinson's room. Your Spanish teachers will be sharing more info with you, but we hope to see all interested at the meeting!
*Any National English Honors Society members who ordered a t-shirt and have not yet picked it up may do so in Mrs. Esberger's room, room 337.
Also, remember that NEHS is sponsoring the AP English Language breakfast on Wednesday before school. New members are encouraged to participate. Check the website to sign-up.
*Any senior who has not completed a final transcript form MUST do that this week and drop off to Guidance. Any junior or senior who would took dual enrollment this year and would like to pick up his/her transcript may do that in Guidance.
*Juniors, please plan to be in the auditorium this Thursday, May 17th at 2:10 for your MTSU Library orientation.
*The Central Magnet baseball team had several players honored on the All District Team.
Michael Polly, Stephan Laird, Patrick Norman, and Jacob Upshaw were all named 1st team All District. CJ Campbell was named District 12 AA Player of the Year. Congratulations on a great season and the honor of being selected All District.
*Central Magnet Archery MS & HS did amazing at the National Tournament this past weekend. Both teams finished 55th in the nation and were the top scoring MS & HS teams from Tennessee. Alison Blanton finished in a 5-way tie for 14th in HS Female Division with a score of 293/300. Connor Smathers & Kayleigh Corban both finished in the top 100 nationally in their divisions.
*Come out this evening to Richard Siegel Park to watch your high school men's soccer team take on Sycamore High School at 7pm in the Region Semifinal. Win and the boys move on to the region Championship.
*Congratulations go out to our Central Magnet Middle School Chess Team. They competed at US Chess Nationals this weekend. With 5 wins, Sixth-Grader Matthew Smith tied for 18th place in his division! Playing against larger, more experienced teams, our Tigers secured 20th place in the Nation. Great job Matthew Smith, Talon Lynch, and Cooper Olsen and our whole Tiger Chess Team!
*The Central Magnet boy’s tennis team advanced to the sectionals with a convincing win over Lincoln County on Friday by a score of 5-0! All 5 singles players won their matches in straight sets. Nathan Zou extended his season-long unbeaten streak to 18-0 by defeating Kevin Kite 6-0 6-0. Winners for the Tigers were also Alex Hand 6-4 6-3, Tom Smith 6-2 6-2, Fant Smith 6-3 6-1, and Anand Gowda 6-3 6-2.
Next up for the Central Tigers will be sectionals this Friday at 1PM as they look to advance to the state tournament for the first time in school history. Remember the Central girls team has the same state opportunity this Thursday at 4PM. Come and support your Central Magnet tennis teams.
