We have been contacted by the leader of a Youth Council program, designed for teens interested making a difference in our community and at the Discovery Center while exploring and learning STEAM-based activities (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) and growing their professional skills. Designed for middle and high school students with a focus on volunteer service, they work with students interested in learning more about serving our community, while focusing on STEAM career opportunities, working with younger students, and developing new skills to expand their education.
Most importantly, they are having an open house meeting on Monday, September 17th at 5:30 at the Discovery Center for those interested in learning more and meeting current members.
*The Tennessee State Veterans Home is having the Harvest Festival, October 25th, from 5-7pm, and Ms. Jill Wright is needing some assistants to help with the festival while earning community service hours. Please contact Ms. Wright at [email protected] if you are interested.

* If you are interested in volunteering and earning service hours, The Alzheimers Walk to End Alzheimers is November 10th. It will take place at the Dean Hayes Soccer and Track Stadium on the MTSU campus and will begin at 8:00am. You may log up to 8 hours of service since the set up will begin at 6:00am. *CMS Young Life is holding an Ice Cream Olympics on Monday September 10th at 7pm at Old Fort Park Softball field. All students in 9th - 12th grade is welcome! Bring a quart of ice cream, a towel, and a change of clothes for field games with ice cream. The Fire department washes us off afterwards.

* Congratulations to the high school cross country teams for an excellent showing at the Chickasaw Invitational in Oakville, Alabama this past weekend. Over one third of the entire squad earned personal records at this huge meet that featured nearly 3,000 runners from more than 80 schools.
As a result of their stellar race times, junior Fuji Anday, freshman Samantha Ouellette, and junior Kerrigan Walls earned elite runner status. Senior Zach Allgood was the top finisher for the JV boys. Your Tiger striders return to action this weekend in the Tennessee Classic at the historic Steeplechase venue in Nashville’s Percy Warner Park. Go Tigers!
*The high school women's soccer team finished the Tournament of Champions in 3rd place in the Gold Division. They played three close matches scoring 6 goals and conceding 7. Ashleigh Clark scored three goals throughout the tournament while adding one assist. Ella Chesney, Madison Beckman, and Hannah Tritschler also scored goals. Abby Reymann, Ashleigh Clark, and Ella Chesney all had assists.
*The Middle School Girls soccer team plays here this afternoon against LaVergne. Varsity game time is 4:30 with the JV game immediately after. Come out and support the Lady tigers.
