* Barfield Elementary School will be holding its annual book fair on Friday, October 12th from 4-8:00pm. If interested, contact Rae Ellyn Kelley by sending an email to [email protected]. Please title interest emails "Book Fair Volunteers."

 

*On Friday September 21st HP Campus School is having their annual Fall Festival and they need student volunteers for the games and activities during the festival. Sign-up in Mrs. Harrison's room (348) if you would like to be contacted about volunteering.

 

*For those interested in running for Senior Beta Vice President, a typed speech, slogan, campaign skit idea, and t-shirt idea need to be submitted to either Mr. Boynton or Ms. Frazer by next Wednesday, September 19th.  Interested candidates should also plan to deliver their speech in front of a panel of judges this Friday, September 21st immediately after school.  If you have questions or need further clarification about the requirements, please meet with Mr. Boynton or Ms. Frazer.

*The Middle School Cross-Country team has exciting news from the weekend.

At the Milton Invitational on Saturday, the Tigers had the overall race winner in 3 out of 4 races.

Mikayla Morrell was the fastest varsity girl of the day.

Caroline Humphries was the fastest girl in the JV race.

And Jakob Howard captured the boy’s JV 1st place

Emmaline Whitt and Tony Peck each had a great finish in the varsity races as well.

The varsity teams each captured runner-up, while the JV boys and girls won.

This Saturday, the team will compete at Riverdale High School for a chance to go to the State Championship in October.

 

*The Middle School Girls soccer JV team took third place in the JV tournament Saturday.  First game they lost to Stewarts Creek 3 to 1 and turned around and won 2 to 1 against Thurman Francis.  Aubrey Prince, Alex Woods and Sami Warren each scored a goal.  Ashley Davis had 5 saves and Sophia Stringfield had 6 saves.

The next game is here tonight against Oakland.  This is a Varsity game only and is also 8th grade recognition night.  Come out and support the Lady Tigers.

 

*Congratulations to the high school cross country team for a phenomenal showing at the Tennessee Classic in Nashville on Saturday. Despite the heat and messy conditions, both varsity and JV boy’s squads captured first place trophies. The varsity girls captured 6th place.

Junior Fuji Anday paced the boys, finishing in a time of 17:00. This is the first time in the 2018 season that Fuji has won the overall race, finishing ahead of all other runners. Senior Gray Pullias won the JV race and freshman Samantha Ouellette led the ladies, finishing third overall in the girl’s varsity race.

Your Tiger striders return to action in two weeks at the Burnett Invitational in Cookeville.
