*Congratulations to all 9th and 10th grade strings students who auditioned for Mid-State this weekend. Rachel Chan, Kaleb Charles, Josh Guaz, Alex Norwood, and Michael Sowell all earned spots in the Mid-State Orchestra. This is a big accomplishment and we are very proud of these students!

*Submissions for the JFK Profile in Courage Essay Contest are now being accepted.  Submit a 1,000-word essay describing an act of political courage by a US elected official who served during or after 1917. Win up to $10,000 in scholarship money and a chance to attend the 2019 Profile in Courage Award Ceremony. The deadline for submission is January 18, 2019.  See Coach Nichols or his website if you need additional information.

 

*Attention Middle School First Priority Leaders: There will be a leaders' meeting TODAY in Mrs. Cook’s room in A-lunch. Seventh grade leaders, feel free to bring your lunch to this meeting.

*Reminder to all National Spanish Honor Society members that t-shirt orders are due THIS FRIDAY at $15 each! the design is posted in Mrs. Pinson's classroom. We have a minimum to meet, so order yours today!

 

*Attention Seniors:

 

ANOTHER SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION DEADLINE IS APPROACHING!

The application deadline for the Scarlett Family Foundation is fast approaching; but there's still time to apply.  Scholarship applications must be submitted by 11:59pm on December 15th.  Over 300 scholarships have been awarded in the past three years. Students who will or have graduated from any high school or home school program in 40 middle Tennessee counties are eligible to apply.  Applicants must enroll full time in the fall of 2019 and demonstrate financial need.  See Coach Nichols' financial aid page for more details.

 

*High school students will be receiving the Permission forms to leave after Mid-terms during 1st period.  Please have these signed by your parent and return to your 1st period teacher by Wednesday December 12.  Attendance will not be taking phone calls or emails the week of testing for dismissal.

 

 

*Europe Trip 2020

Attention all CMS students in grades 8,9,10, and 11. There is a trip to Europe planned for the Summer of 2020. Trip highlights include London, Normandy, Paris, Belgium, Germany, and Austria. There will be an interest meeting for students and parents tonight, at 6:00 p.m. in the CMS auditorium. See Mr. Kirksey or Mr. Cato for details.

 

*Central Magnet Lego League received 1st place in the Research Project Category at a tournament on Saturday.  In order to win this award, they had to research and analyze topics regarding space, find a problem, develop an innovative solution, share the team's findings with experts and mentors, and explain in the presentation at tournament how they fulfilled all parts of the FLL Research Project.

*Lady Magnets lose at Eagleville 44-20. Sydney Copeland leads the team with 9 points. Next up: at Cascade on Tuesday.

 

*"The Boys Varsity beat Eagleville on Friday, 66-44. It was a hard-fought game with Will Carver having 27 points, Gage Swanson with 13, and Steph Laird with 12. The JV Boys also played a great game after a busy week but came up short. Basketball travels to Cascade tomorrow."

 

*Congratulations to the following individuals for placing at the Cougar Xmas Tournament on Saturday.  Connor Smathers was the 4th place HS Male, Allie Dabney was the 3rd place MS Female and Nathan Blunkall was the 1st place MS Male.  The MS team place 2nd just 15 points behind first place.  The HS team finished in 4th place just 17-point shy of third place.
