*High School Students:

The Permission Form to leave after Mid-Term Exams is due TODAY.  It should be turned into your 1st Period teacher.  Attendance will not be taking phone calls or emails the week of testing for dismissal.

 

*Today is the Pizza Lunch for the High School Symphony Orchestra. Please visit the band room during your regular lunch time!

 

*Homecoming Voting is open now until the end of lunch.  This vote is to determine the grade-level representatives for Homecoming.  There will be one more vote during the week of Homecoming to determine the 8th grade Prince and Princess and the 12th grade King and Queen.  Vote today!!

 

*Attention members of the TRI-Music Honor Society: THIS THURSDAY, DECEMBER 13TH is your last opportunity of the semester to usher for the Murfreesboro Symphony Orchestra. Remember that when you usher, you earn 15 points, AND you are allowed to stay for the concert free of charge. Please visit the TRI-M website or see Ms. Way-Kiani if you have any questions.

 

*Submissions for the JFK Profile in Courage Essay Contest are now being accepted.  Submit a 1,000-word essay describing an act of political courage by a US elected official who served during or after 1917. Win up to $10,000 in scholarship money and a chance to attend the 2019 Profile in Courage Award Ceremony. The deadline for submission is January 18, 2019.  See Coach Nichols or his website if you need additional information.

 

*HOSA Community Awareness Competitive Team will be selling candy cane grams during Lunch rotations today & Thursday.  You can purchase a gram for your buddies, favorite teacher or administrator or yourself!  ALL money collected will be donated to the Juvenile Arthritis Foundation.

 

* The library has given notices to your English teacher so you will know the books that you currently have checked out. If you receive a notice, please come by the library by this Friday to return any overdue books, pay fines or simply renew the books that you have. All library books checked out and renewed now will be due after winter break.

 

*Reminder to all National Spanish Honor Society members that t-shirt orders are due THIS FRIDAY at $15 each! the design is posted in Mrs. Pinson's classroom. We have a minimum to meet, so order yours today!

 

*Attention Seniors:

 

ANOTHER SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION DEADLINE IS APPROACHING!

The application deadline for the Scarlett Family Foundation is fast approaching; but there's still time to apply.  Scholarship applications must be submitted by 11:59pm on December 15th.  Over 300 scholarships have been awarded in the past three years. Students who will or have graduated from any high school or home school program in 40 middle Tennessee counties are eligible to apply.  Applicants must enroll full time in the fall of 2019 and demonstrate financial need.  See Coach Nichols' financial aid page for more details.

*The Central Magnet Tigers lost to Cascade last night 52-45.

The Tigers were led in scoring by Will Carver with 16 points, Steph Laird with 10 points and Patrick Norman with 8 points.

The loss drops the Tigers to 5-2 on the season. The Tigers will be back in action on Friday Night when they host Cannon County.

The JV team also lost a close one by the score of 52-51.

 

*Cascade broke open a close game in the 3rd quarter and beat the Lady Tigers 38-21. Natalie Anderson paced the Lady Tigers with 7 points. Next up: at home vs Cannon Co (Chili Supper Night).

 

*The high school swim team had a great meet this past weekend against LaVergne, Siegel, and Mt Juliet, placing second place overall as a team behind LaVergne High School. Girls beat LaVergne and Siegel's girls but fell short to Mt. Juliet's girls team. Our boys beat Siegel and Mt. Juliet's boys but lost to LaVergne's boys team.

Some new regional and state qualifying times were made by Nick Gobich for the 100 butterfly and Daniel Wendt making a state cut in the 50 Freestyle.

The middle school team also had a great meet against Rutherford County middle school swim teams this past Saturday.

 

The following swimmers made new regional cuts in at least one of their events: Ben Bryant, Matthew Moore, Cameron Walker, Lilly Ann Brown, Taylor Walker, Sarah Gwen ,Wyatt Kelton, and John Drugmand.

The following swimmers also placed in the top 3 in at least one of their events: Ben Bryant, John Drugmand, Taylor Walker, Cameron Walker, Lilly Ann Brown and Matthew Moore.
