*Submissions for the JFK Profile in Courage Essay Contest are now being accepted. Submit a 1,000-word essay describing an act of political courage by a US elected official who served during or after 1917. Win up to $10,000 in scholarship money and a chance to attend the 2019 Profile in Courage Award Ceremony. The deadline for submission is January 18, 2019. See Coach Nichols or his website if you need additional information.
* The library has given notices to your English teacher so you will know the books that you currently have checked out. If you receive a notice, please come by the library by this Friday to return any overdue books, pay fines or simply renew the books that you have. All library books checked out and renewed now will be due after winter break.
*Reminder to all National Spanish Honor Society members that t-shirt orders are due THIS FRIDAY at $15 each! the design is posted in Mrs. Pinson's classroom. We have a minimum to meet, so order yours today!
*Attention Seniors:
ANOTHER SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION DEADLINE IS APPROACHING!
The application deadline for the Scarlett Family Foundation is fast approaching; but there's still time to apply. Scholarship applications must be submitted by 11:59pm on December 15th. Over 300 scholarships have been awarded in the past three years. Students who will or have graduated from any high school or home school program in 40 middle Tennessee counties are eligible to apply. Applicants must enroll full time in the fall of 2019 and demonstrate financial need. See Coach Nichols' financial aid page for more details.
*UNICEF is having a showing of Elf in the auditorium next Wednesday, December 19th at 4 PM. Admission is free but there will be concessions of Christmas cupcakes and snacks. Come unwind after midterms with a snack and some Christmas spirit!
*Congratulations to Daniel Idowu for winning the Patriot Pen esay competition. Last night he received $300.00 from the Veterans of Foreign Wars District 5. Daniel will now move up in competition to the State level.
*High School students that are planning to audition for the Drowsy Chaperone this coming Monday and Tuesday:
Today is the last day to pick up a music packet to prepare for the music portion of your audition. They will be in Ms. Lindsey’s room. If you do not grab one, you will still be eligible to audition, but most students will have prepared their song excerpt. All students auditioning should plan to be present at both days of auditions. Please ask Ms. Lindsey or Mr. Brenner if you have any questions before Monday.
*Homecoming is Friday, January 25th! That day will be a spirit day and the Homecoming presentation and basketball game will be that evening.
