High School Directed Studies
High School Directed Studies Rules and Expectations
- Respect your classmates. Therefore, distracting behavior is not allowed in the Directed Studies room. This includes talking, making noises, and trying to get others attention by acting silly.
- Make good use of your time and work hard. Therefore, come to Directed Studies prepared to work and study the entire time. If you choose to not have work, Mr. Kinney will choose your work.
High School Directed Studies Consequences
First offense: Warning and/or short-term consequence.
Second offense: Conference with student and consequence.
Third offense: Parent notified and plan of correction produced and implemented.
Fourth and subsequent offenses: Office referral
High School Directed Studies Procedures
- Students will complete the “My Plan for Directed Studies Today” form at the beginning of every Direct Studies period unless they are informed that they no longer need to.
- Students may only use technology (computers, phones, etc.) for assigned academic purposes. Students must receive permission to use their phones. They may then only use their phone for the purpose for which they have permission. Students who are not following the rules by misusing their phones will put their phones in “timeout.”
- Students may only listen to music if and when Mr. Kinney gives permission.
- Only one student is allowed to use a Quick Pass (restroom or water break) at a time. If a student abuses the Quick Pass, he/she will lose the privilege of making a Quick Pass during Directed Studies in the future.
- Only four students may go to the library at a time. Students must have a Flex Pass to be able to go, and Mr. Kinney reserves the right to deny a pass to the library, especially to allow other students to have equal chances to go to the library. If needed, Mr. Kinney will use a rotation plan to ensure all students have an equal opportunity to go to the library.
-
If a student needs to go to another teacher’s classroom to make up a quiz or test or for extra help, he/she must check in with Mr. Kinney and create an online Hall Pass to be dismissed.
Final Note
Mr. Kinney may require specific students to complete specific work at the direction of parents, administration, and/or individual student’s classroom teachers.
