2021 Boys Middle School Soccer
Parents—I am looking forward to a wonderful season this year. Hopefully this letter provides you with some information about the upcoming season. If you have other questions, please contact me directly.
Player Fees: $65: Please pay as soon as you can. Make checks payable to Central Magnet School. Write your son’s name in the memo line. Included in the Player Fee are two season passes to all home games, use of a uniform for the season, and two pairs of black socks. Generally, the remainder of the money covers the cost of officials, TSSAA fees, and miscellaneous athletic gear (e.g. we purchased a net for the back-to-back soccer goal last season specifically for middle school). Contact me directly with other concerns about the budget or player fee.
Schedule: Until games start, practice is Monday- Thursday from 3:15-5:00. Please pick up your son on time. Once the season begins, we will schedule practice as needed depending on that week’s schedule. The game schedule can be found on the school website.
Covid-19: I am required to check players’ temperatures and survey them about any symptoms they may be experiencing before each practice and game. All players AND parents should wear a mask when on school property. Players can remove masks only when actively participating. Parents and other spectators should expect to have their temperature taken and to be surveyed about potential symptoms when entering before being admitted to the soccer field or building. Please maintain appropriate distance from others when on school grounds. One active cases on team will disrupt the season and potentially cause your son to be quarantined away from school. Please help me reinforce Covid-19 rules and procedures so we can have a healthy season.
If your child starts to exhibit Covid-19 symptoms or tests positive, or if someone in your household tests positive, please notify me and administration immediately. I will make every effort to maintain your family’s privacy.
Grades: I will periodically monitor players’ grades. Your son’s academics are more important than this soccer team. Please make me aware of any problems your son is having academically so that I can help to correct grades. I can be a great resource for encouraging students to get their academics in order. I’d be glad to supervise them during study hall or to help them seeks tutoring etc.
Transportation: Many away games in the district start at 4:00 or 4:30 p.m., which does not give us much time to travel. If you foresee problems with transportation, please let me know now, so I can make accommodations. If you know other parents on the team, make a regular transportation plan for the whole season.
Uniforms: Your son will be loaned a uniform (white/ black top and 2 pairs of socks). You are responsible for supplying a pair of solid black athletic soccer shorts. They don’t have to match others’ shorts. If you need to borrow some from me, let me know; I have extras. All uniforms must be turned in at the end of the season. The replacement cost for lost uniforms is $100.
Discipline: I reserve the right to discipline players for behavior that is unsportsmanlike. All school rules apply, always. I expect players to behave in a respectful manner both in school and on the field.
Playing time: I try to get as many players into games as possible; I want the players who play on the middle school team to have experience to be prepared to join the high school team. However, competitiveness is important, and I will play the best combination of players we have to win every game.
