Parent Information and FAQ

2023 - 2024 Boys Middle School Soccer

Parents—I am looking forward to a fantastic season this year. Hopefully this letter provides you with some information about the upcoming season.  If you have other questions, please contact me directly.

Player Fees: $85:  Please pay the fee once your son makes the team.  Make checks payable to Central Magnet School. Write your son’s name in the memo line. Included in the Player Fee are two season passes to all home games, use of a uniform for the season, and a team t-shirt.  The remainder of the money covers the cost of officials, TSSAA fees, tournament fees, and other soccer related items (grass seed, fertilizer, mower repair, etc...). Contact me directly with other concerns about the budget or player fee. If you would like to sponsor our program, please let me know as well.

Schedule: Until games start, practice is Monday- Thursday from 3:15-5:00.  Please pick up your son on time. Once the season begins, we will move to 3 days per week needed depending on that week’s schedule.

Grades: Your son’s academics are more important than the soccer team.  Please make me aware of any problems your son is having academically so that I can help to correct grades.  I can be a great resource for encouraging students to get their academics in order.

Transportation:  Away games in the district start at 4:30 p.m., which does not give us much time to travel. Players are responsible for their own transportation. I cannot legally assign students to cars to ride with other parents and cannot offer to take them myself per Rutherford County School guidelines  If you know other parents on the team, it might be a good time to make a regular transportation plan for the whole season.

Uniforms:  Your son will be loaned 2 uniforms, a white and a black shirt along with a black pair of shorts.  You are responsible for supplying a pair of solid black socks.  All uniforms must be turned in at the end of the season. The replacement cost for lost uniforms is $100.

Discipline:  I reserve the right to discipline players for behavior that is unsportsmanlike.  All school rules apply at all times in both practice and at games. I expect players to behave in a respectful manner both in school and on the field.

Playing time: I try to get as many players into games as possible. I want the players who play on the middle school team to have experience to be prepared to join the high school team. However, competitiveness is what we are striving for and we will play the best combination of players we have to win every game.  Some players will get more playing time than others. This might include moving your child to a different position than what he is accustomed to playing on a travel or recreational league team.
